Anyway, when my girlfriend bought a pc just weeks before the last big MS system software change and I realized what had happened, we took it back to the store for a refund (they have a 30 day money back, no questions policy), turned around and bought a new system with the new OS.

Similar thing happened to me. I bought a 900Mhz Athlon 18 months ago and in the 3 days it took to ship they released a 1GHz for the same price. So I called and asked to return it and order a new one and they said I was entitled to do that. In fact they sent an engineer out and swapped the CPUs over which was easier for both of us. BUT, at least they did seem to care about me (the customer) and they could see things from my point of view.

I think Apple should do the same. Anyone who buys an OS after a new version is announced but before it ships should get a free upgrade to the new one. None of this $19.95 for an envelope and a stamp BS, they should get one for free. Little things like this is how customer loyalty is built up and Apple has been good to its customers in the past. I think Apple has taken a few steps back in this respect recently.

17" imac with OS X 10.2

Now, alright, I get my 17" from the Apple store here in town on 8/10 and it doesn't have the 10.2 upgrade (8/10 is a Saturday). This guy gets his via shipping apparently from Apple on 8/12 and it INCLUDES the 10.2 upgrade IN THE BOX. What the heck gives here? I mean, come on, they have to ship from the same source, the probably shipped nearly the same time, why would his have a 10.2 update included and mine (and many others) would not.

did anyone else get their 17" with the 10.2 update included?

Like I said before, in another thread, according to my local Apple store, they received their shipments with 10.2 last week, and began selling them this week.

time frame

i bought a top of the line TiBook from apple online in late June, spent over 5,000 bux with apple on one shot......do you think i could convince them to send me the upgrade for 19.95???

let me know your thoughts,
matt
