"while also making sure your password management app of choice, such as 1Password, is selected." -- how exactly do you do this?

I see now - you must have an autofill enabled app installed for the ability to enable (not select) apps for autofill.

Exactly - 1Password had an update today (2018-09-17) that allowed for this. Prior to the 1Password update this functionality wasn't available.

For me, a huge time saver. I'm a typical 1Password customer with no clue of what my passwords are and was always flipping to 1Password to copy one.

The free version of LastPass seems pretty comprehensive, and at $24 the premium version is cheaper than 1Password. Can any LastPass users please chime in? I have desperately wanted to share password with my desktop PC.
I've been using LastPass for a few years now, and works a treat for me in my at-home Apple environment and at-work Windows. This new feature is a great addition and time-saver as I found myself having to use the more long-winded approach of the share sheet on iOS to access LastPass - now Safari brings up the logins to choose from.

Tested with Chrome and tapping on the "Passwords" option that appears above the keyboard allows me to access the LastPass interface.

I can't get this to work.

I've upgraded iPad Pro, iPad Mini 4 and a iPhone 7. All of them crash when I go to settings -> "Passwords & Accounts"

I can go to all my other settings without issues, it's just the "Passwords & Accounts"

Let me go off topic here and say what a shame it is that AgileBits ruined the perfect 1Password with their new subscription model.

I'm using 1password have been since launch. I'm not using the subscription. I sync via iCloud. I see no difference in it's functionality.

Zoho Vault also supports Autofill option. There's even an option to access passwords with Siri Shortcuts.

*I work for Zoho Vault.

I hope this comes to Bitwarden soon.

I only moved away from keychain because I moved (on my laptop) from Safari to Firefox, and FF doesn't support keychain.

Argh this is too good can't wait to try it, been wanting this for years, thank goodness I bought 1Password before the rip-off subscription price..they hide it but I think you can still get the stand alone cross platform app..

1password integration is probably my favourite new feature of ios12.

Can wave goodbye to keychain. It was pretty useless TBH.

And you can still buy the standalone version if you want. You don't have to pay for a subscription.

Face ID is already used to autofill passwords to apps like paypal, etc. What is different here?

the enpass application seems to be a great alternative to the heavily overprized subscription of 1Password....I mean, I've been using 1Password for many many years but with the new subscription model, it gets definitely far too expensive for iOS and MacOS usage. Enpass is free on Mac and cost's only a few bucks on iOS and the features are quite great!

If you use a password manager other than Keychain, you no longer have to try and keep both in sync. I use 1Password to manage all my passwords. The ability to retrieve passwords directly from 1password in both iOS Safari and Apps is a huge convenience.

Keychain should be doing this already - or add this with the most current OS.

How many forms are you filling out everyday, outside whatever your job description demands - 2 or 300?
Why would Apple make it cross platform?

Also, what difference is if it’s 2 or 300? Have your tried typing in a 40 plus random character password to log into something? No thanks. Cross platform is a big selling point for me since I use Linux, windows, OS X, iOS, and android.

I could not log into Lastpass from the accounts and settings screen or from Safari.. I ended up having to turn off LP's option for FaceID. Then I could log in and everything seems to work as planned except it looks like LP does not really know what site/app the PW is being asked of it so you need to search each time. :-\

I wish there was a way to export iCloud Keychain to 1password

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but either way there is. It just tedious. The time I performed it, there was no easy migration tool. I did it about two years ago now and overall, it transferred everything. I did some house cleaning when completed, but have been using 1 Password ever since.

Is this a safe method for password entry?

To elaborate, I use lastpass. I used to have the lastpass browser extension on my Mac to make entering my login info a breeze. Then I read having an extension on your your browser opens your computer up to vulnerabilities and someone could hack it and retrieve your info.

I deleted the browser extension, and now on my Mac I have the lastpass vault app. I retrieve my info by pressing Command + Shift + L, searching for the password I want, and can easily copy / paste.

I’m curious if this new implementation in iOS is safe, or is it comparable to adding a browser extension - and opening your device / passwords up to vulnerabilities?

The OP post isn’t sarcastic, but yours sure sounds like it!

Sure - you can manually transder your passwords, but there’s no automated way of doing this, which most people would refer to when they say ‘export’.

Those items generate revenue. Passwords don’t. There isn’t an iTunes on Chrome OS or Linux also.

That is my last sentence is clear about revenue.

Google, Facebook, etc., revenue from recruitment - the business model after recruitment is up to the the brains and philosophical guidelines of the company.

If they want to recruit, iMessage is the way to go... not passwords.

You can still buy it outright and not use the subscription model. Download it, and when you go to activate it there is an option to purchase. That's what I did.
