I emailed them over a week ago and have received no reply, other than the standard automated "we received your email" response. I may just stay on Mavericks and 1P4.

It took a while before I got a reply back, but they do always get back to you. On the email I got, they apologised for the length of time it took for them to reply, as they were swamped with emails.

I was surprised they gave me a code for to get the Mac Appstore version free of charge as I originally purchased 1Password when it was on version 3. Since then, for version 4 and now 5, I haven't needed to pay for the update. I must admit that there are no other developers I can think of that would give free upgrades for two later versions. A lesson some other developers could follow.

I was in the same position. I contacted Agilebits (1Password developers) and they gave me a code so as I could switch to the Mac AppStore version free of charge from their webstore version that I was using previously.

Might be worth you doing this. On the few occasions I've contacted support they have been absolutely superb, cannot fault them.

I've done that. Because my only license that I have is for 1Password 3, they can't do anything for me. I told them I have 1Password 4 because it was a free upgrade, but since I never bother to write down the new license key, I don't have it - and according to them, it's not in their system.

Any sales coming up, then?

For Kyle:

I've considered using the iCloud sync, but sometimes I use 1Password on Windows, and obviously iCloud isn't going to reach there.

Can you sync to both iCloud and Dropbox?

If so, do you guys know if you're going to be running any sales on 1P on the MAS?

I know Apple doesn't give you guys a way to offer cross-grades into the Mac App Store for previous customers. The business models they support in their stores are annoyingly limited.

It's one or the other for sync.
There's a sale going on right now for 30% on MAS.

We had a lot of people email in, we're working through things as fast as we can and should get responses out to everyone who had emailed in about this sometime middle of this week I hope. I was hoping to get all the responses out this weekend but ran into a bit of furnace trouble at my house the parents lost power. That set be back a bit on my end of the list. Sorry, we'll get to you as soon as we can.

If you have 1Password 4/5 licensed you can find the license file in ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/License/

It's an XML file that has a UUID in it, we can use that UUID to locate your license.

We're currently running a 30% off promotion now and it would be a good time to pick it up.

You can switch on and off between iCloud and Dropbox. I do it all the time. That way, I have an up to date file at both places, should one site go down etc.

You do have to be careful doing this since the sync process tries to keep track of changes and each time you disable sync it resets the changes that it has kept track of. It's possible that you could get yourself in a pickle from this. Just, make sure you have backups.

You are right about the possible "pickle," Kyle. A person does run the risk of all the recent data not being available at both places etc.

I make a backup on a regular basis to several places. Probably overkill. But, I like to be prepared.

I never received a license key when I purchased 1Password 3 from their webstore. Instead I received an email with a link that then put me on Agilebits website for to download the license file to then unlock the software.

I wasn't asked for any info when they gave me a code to get the Mac Appstore version of 1Password for free. I suppose they could have used the email address to verify my purchase of 1Password as it was the same email address I used to purchase 1Password on originally.

You purchased version 4 then. Version 3 used a code, version 4 used a file.

You also likely wrote in using the email address that you bought with, which let us locate your license information. It sounds like OP sent us an email from a different account than he purchased with and that is why we cannot locate his purchase information.

Sorry I must have been mistaken, I never realised version 4 had been out so long, sorry to confuse matters.

Either case, I'm over it. It's a good piece of software. I'm just on the look out for more shenanigans with them. I just feel they should let users knows what's really going on in the future and give them a heads up before a major update that could cause problems like this.
