Just wish Apple would let us store non-password information like passport details and software licenses etc in Passwords.app like 1P does, 2 years on from switching it's the only thing I miss. Yes, I know we have Secure Notes, but I'd like a nicer way of structuring them like Passwords.app could offer.

I don't have an issue paying yearly for 1Password. It's relatively inexpensive, and it works well for me on all of my Apple and Windows devices.
I loved the option of buying it yearly for different/new features.
That is not the case with a sub model.

Here comes all the people complaining that a company wants to pay its employees.

“Back in my day, you paid $19 for software once and used it for 25 years!”
Not against paying companies. I'd be find paying for upgrades when needed. Maybe every other year if there is something compelling. Like OS support at a small fee. But, paying yearly/monthly when I don't need the new features, that is silly. Outside of security updates and updated browser support, I have been fine with V7. So, 4 years of paying for something I didn't really need. I'll pass.

Same as others still on 1p7 and will move to apple or bitwarden at some point. I won't pay for subscriptions to things that shouldn't be subscriptions. I don't want cloud, esp for a security related app from a small company.

I'm still on v7. Been thinking of trying out Strongbox. Yes, still cost money. But, they have lifetime license as well. Curious if others have tried it.

As a long time subscriber, I would love the discount for myself, but head to head you will not find a better password manager.

Yes.. you can use Apple Passwords, until you need a copy of your passport. Yes, you can add the "Access App" but you need to manage them independently and they still don't have the functionality of 1PW.

Feature for feature, you will not find anything close to 1PW. I look every 18 months to stay aware of the competition, there is nothing close.

As someone 100% in apples ecosystem I don’t need cross platform support. Only non Apple devices I use are my work computers that I’m not allowed to download software to anyway
You are wrong. You can add new websites or replace the label. Notice I said replace because it makes you start over, you can’t edit the original name. You also can’t launch the website from the app which makes life very difficult if you have multiple logins for one website.

Hope Apple continue to evolve their password app, so I can ditch 1Password later.
I’ve had the yrs with good discount, but I’m not really suffering to pay the ~ $50/year.

But not really there to drop it yet - don’t know what I’m waiting for from Apple’s side either 😂
Guess I know when I know.

I'm like many others: over time getting more and more annoyed with subscriptions. But, that said, I'd probably still be with 1Password if they allowed local vault storage. I use Enpass (lifetime license) for that reason; I can wifi sync between my iPhone & MBP. Different horses for different courses, though; I get that for others the ease & familiarity of 1Password supersedes everything else. Glad we have choices.

Been working with Apple on and off for over a year to try to get iCloud Passwords for windows working properly.

I have one windows machine thats an old NUC that I use as a VDI box that has it working and has been working since Windows support came out. Any new windows machine I try to add never works. Since Apple requires windows hello I can use autofill on the VDI but can’t do any password management since that’s requires Windows Hello which is disabled for remote sessions.

Apple is a royal pain to work with support wise. Oh you can’t have a single device on your account that’s in beta. (This was last year). So now I have reopened the ticket before WWDC.

They made me have every device on my account be up to date at once and install logging profiles on everything phone iPads laptops windows and Mac. Still waiting to hear back. I’ve sent tons of logs, videos, etc. Last year I showed them on a brand new computer with a fresh Windows install it doesn’t work.

At this point if they don’t come up with something in the next session (tomorrow). Likely going Bitwarden and cutting my losses.

Apple wants to prentend nothing exists other than Apple. Sorry I use lots of systems.

I’ve been reading guides and of course Apple makes it extremely difficult to export out not to mention having to redo about 20 passkeys.

Apple’s Passwords is a non starter for me until it is separately secured from your main Apple ID, which can apparently be reset with just an iPhone pin. My main email is iCloud based, which makes the situation even worse.

You are exactly right! I have been using 1P for many years and tested every other viable pw app on the market. There is no safer tool for your most important information than 1P. If you have ever had your identity stolen the cost of recovering from that far outweighs the subscription of 1P. Also, its good practice to not have all your personal information with one vendor i.e. Apple or google so that its more difficult for bad actors to access all your personal data.

Only in the US people could come up with the idea of charging $2.99 per month for an app that manages passwords. Why does every part of your life require a subscription?

1Password is more than a Password Manager. It's a complete application to store ANY sensitive Texts/Images/Documents/PassKeys/SSHPrivateKeys/BlockchainKeys and more, that requires the highest standards E2EE secure encryption with fast sync to every device and OS platform. There is still no competition that offers the same level of security and options as 1P. You can use it (read only) even with a expired subscription.

1Password all the way here.

So much this.

It's easy to sit on the sidelines and shoot arrows. But until anyone can show me an app that has the functionality of 1PW, they will continue to get my money and support.
