The 18 month contract which people signed in November 2007 when the original iPhone launched should be coming to an end soon.

It will push the 1st generation users to go out and buy the next one for these official features.

See, that's just it, why would they be pushed to go out and buy the NEXT version when they've already been told it will all be available on the iPhone 3G.

Don't get me wrong, I hope to see new hardware in June just like most everyone else.

No.

1. No 3G coverage. I don't want to give AT&T $10/mo extra for no good reason.
2. Never much cared for MMS.
3. A2DP would be cool but not a reason to upgrade.

If they put out a new model this summer I probably won't get it either, unless it has something really cool.

I'll wait... annoyed

I was pretty miffed that MMS won't work since that was the #1 thing i was hoping for in the update. I guess having bluetooth stereo would be good too. I dont have much experience with bluetooth headphones.

I will wait though...

I had the first iPod and kept it until the black video iPod

I had a IIsi until the iMac w/ the ball came out.

I'm used to waiting.

Technically, I already upgraded for A2DP. I had a 1st gen until the Best Buy promotion a couple of weeks ago, so I bought it, anticipating A2DP and more. I'm glad I did. I already have a couple of A2DP headsets, so I'm gonna download the SDK, upgrade to 3.0, and enjoy!

I'm probably gonna put my 1st gen on ebay... gotta check the legalities of selling it with iPhone O.S. 3.0.

The poll options are a bit silly as a new iPhone is likely to be at least announced before the 3.0 software is released. You'd have to be pretty foolish to upgrade to the 3G now in anticipation of the 3.0 only to find out later it coincides with the launch of a new iPhone :/

So I'm guessing you voted 'No' then, right?

:p

Yea, I agree though, I made the poll in the heat of the moment and maybe now looking back it makes sense one way while it doesn't another.

Mah bad. :D

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

I was waiting for A2DP but I don't really need to upgrade right now. I'll wait for next iphone and see if it's worthy. For now my mind is set for TG01. Apple better surprise me.

It is coming to all iPhones via Cydia - jailbroken!:

Full Bluetooth stack coming to a jailbroken iPhone near you! Look for iBluetooth on Cydia

I really don't want to upgrade out of principle. There is no reason why the 1st gen iPhone can't have either of those updates. It's purely software based and has nothing to do with hardware.

There will be proper egg on faces when someone hacks the official 3.0 software to prove this.
