2.0.1 didnt fix anything.

People thought it fixed the lag because they were rebooting and restoring a new firmware. That happened with 2.0 also.

The contacts / SMS lag returns after a bit of usage.

Cmon apple stop adding features and release another bug fix !!!

the 2.0.1 software fixed mostly everything, once in a while i get keyboard lag, but other than that its great.

It restarts for me a whole lot faster. It backsup in less than half the time.

Yeah thats the same for me, its far from perfect but it isn't a sloppy as 2.0.

no fixes

Updated iPhone 3G and the backup takes an hour even right after doing one. SMS typing still lags intensely as well :(

I also get the random insane SMS lag...if you go to the home page and back usually fixes it, but still pretty annoying.

Instead of waiting until Snow Leopard to fix those bugs it's full of, how about fixing them in Leopard instead and leave NEW stuff to Snow Leopard. You shouldn't have to buy a new version of OSX just to get the bugs fixed and the OS working as smoothly as it was in Tiger, IMO.

Yep i totally agree. only release an OS once it is decently stable - all the betas for 10.5 were buggy as and the os is still buggy,,,now...

jag n pantha n tiger were much more stable at .0 versions let alone by the time they got to .4

I've been forced to use Leopard on my upgraded PowerMac for the past two days (seeing as the latest versions of Handbrake won't run under Tiger and I want to move my music video DVDs into iTunes so I can play them around the house with AppleTV) and twice now I've had Leopard first slow down like crazy and then just lockup completely forcing a reboot and both times it was when Firefox 3 was running in the background...not surfing at the time, just running. I know it was Firefox because when I went to close it, it wouldn't respond (beach ball of death) and then a couple of minutes later the whole system froze the one time and kernel panicked the 2nd time. Since then, I have been using Safari under Leopard and no problems so far. But the thing of it is, I use the same Firefox 3 under Tiger all the time and don't have to reboot for months at a time so is it Leopard or is it Firefox's fault? Both? all I know is Tiger is stable and Leopard is questionable at best. The problem is too many application programmers are jumping the Tiger ship and releasing Leopard only apps, thus negating all backwards compatibility value of OS X from both ends (older apps such as OS9 carbon ones won't run under Leopard and some Newer Leopard apps won't run under Tiger or older). On my WindowsXP machine, apps from 1998 still run fine even. This PowerMac can boot OS9 (although I've lost sound since my CPU upgrade unless I do a PRAM reset before each boot to OS9) so I can run older software (between that and Classic Mode), but not under Leopard.

3rd party apps still crashing inmediatly so I'm restricted to the core apps. Lag is ok sorta, however safari has nasty crashes requiring phone reboot. Firmware still not up to snuff.

Help!

So, I have a first gen iphone (unlocked with winpwn and using it with tmobile). I am running firmware 2.0.1 and everything works. I have the 5.99 tzones web plan. Here's the thing, after going into cydia and installing their proxy hack (and changing my apn), my edge wont work. I even restored to 2.0.1 (so i'd have a bricked iphone) and then I just reunlocked it. But the problem still exists. No edge. Any advice?

Thanks,
Corey

warning!!!

don't install now playing (previously box office) app through your phone or ipod touch. installation process is forever, eats so much chip power as well. I tried to download it today. it didn't finish at all. it crashed with safari. as you know, when I turned it on, it showed apple logo forever. I had to restore mine again. if you want to do it, do with itunes.

help please.

I unlocked 2.0.1 once, and it internet wouldn't work. I used tzones web plan (5.99/month) changed apn to wap.voicestream.com, but cydia wouldn't work. So i REUNLOCKED (long, boring process) and same thing, so i got on wifi, and cydia worked, so i downloaded tzones hack from cydia, still, no internet, I waited a day to see what would happen. The internet works now, so does maps, mail, weather, stocks, etc. Youtube, on the other hand, still will not work. What I had done to unlock 2.0.1 (with windows and winpwn) was: When i was building the custom firmware ispw file, I checked 'activate, youtube activation fix, cydia, installer'. Then, I didn't upload a custom payload, or change the boot images, but I did set the partition resizer to 512 megabites (The lowest you could go was 500, not a big difference). Then I waited until it was built, clicked 'iPwner' and opened the custom file, itunes was pwned, put iphone in dfu mode, restored with custom firmware and TA DUH! unlocked 2.0.1.

Some people said NOT to check youtube activation fix AT ALL, some said check it ONLY if you are going to use the iphone with another service provide, i.e. tmobile, and some said to check it regardless. IDK if that is the problem or not. Internet works (occasionally. sometimes i'll get a message saying 'internal error 500' or something, but I just restart safari or reload the page and it works). Same thing with cydia and maps, they say no cellular network can be found or something but i reload and they work fine.

Any ideas on how to fix my phone so it wont say 'internal error' every so often, OR on how to fix youtube? (youtube still works on wifi).

Thanks,
Corey

I don't see why not. But your baseband will still be 2.30.3 and most apps will no longer work (Official and Jailbroken).

2.0.1 was buggy anyway. I want 2.1 back, but I want email to work correctly... grrr. I guess you can't have it all eh?

Restore and setup as new, then sync all your apps / music and whatever. Restoring from backup is often a bad idea.
