Im not sure. But I would guess this is a desktop chip that would suck a lot more power than the Duo. So, even if it is faster you would be sacraficing battery life.
Sorry, I didnt know the MacBook Pro had that CPU. I was talking about the one in the 20 inch iMac.
Pentium D is based on the old, out of date, high clockrate, high power, low performance Netburst architecture. Pentium D at 2.66 GHz runs slower than Core Duo at 1.66 GHz, and it has no chance of ever fitting into a notebook are an iMac due to overheating.
I'd rather have a Pentium II over Pentium D
I am expecting an announcement from Intel about the Pentium Double D.
