Does anyone know if the resume function is fixed, I bought a touch "Thinking it was going to be awesome but was very disappointed, I had a 60gb video before that I use in the car all the time, I bought the touch and when I am watching podcasts or videos it all fantastic until I puase it when the phone rings or have to get out of the car, when I want to resume, I have to unlock the touch then go and find the actual podcast I was watching, where as with the 60gb video I just got in the car and pressed play and it would resume, such a simple function but on the touch it is so annoying. Anyone know a fix for this or if it will be fixed in the update....?

Double-tap the home key?

Not on the "home screen."

I am NOT updating until they come up with a 802.1x patch so I can connect to my campus internet like STEVE PROMISED FROM DAY ONE.

YES! Even though the OP is full of ****, I want 802.1X in the next update.

The next update will be 1.1.2, not 2.1.1, and it will be released on November 9th, when the iPhone comes to the UK.

heh...November 9th gonna be fun. I'm not planning on getting an iPhone (I don't even own/use a cellphone), but I live near the Apple Store on Regent Street and Friday is my day off, so I'm just gonna pop near the store before it opens (at 10 if I'm not mistaken) just to see how insane the waiting line is...man is it gonna be huge. I remember how it was when the Touch was officially released on Sept 28th, and it was already smth (all the more since no unit had shipped that day, it was a blank official release day). Now add up London (trendy/hype/mobile phone freak city) and iPhone and you're gonna get maaaad results :)

Question...I'm new to all this and I did jailbreak my itouch...of if this new program comes out, really does what it claims, how would I go about installing it into my currently jailbroken itouch? I ask since the main reason I wanted to jailbreak was so that I could add calendar events.

Thanks soooo much!

You would restore it with the new firmware. But this post was totally BS, so don't worry about it.

Evem tho this post is BS, does ne1 think movies or tv shows be available on the iTunes Wi-fi store?

Chill. It may just be an iPhone update.

This is BS, as the update is not 2.1.1 but 1.1.2 and is coming this Friday, the 9th.

Also:

Why do people think if the iPhone is updated, then that automatically signals that the iPod touch will also get an update at the same time as it? These are two different models, on two entirely different product lines. (Same principle as, does your Macbook usually get an update when your iMac does).

How do we know if this is just going to be an iPhone update? - The anwser, we don't, but Apple have to focus on plugging the security breach FIRST. They have plenty of time to shower us in official application releases after the SDK is released in Feburary.

To be honest, i'd rather them do it that way round, so my $400 device is not rendered usless if I visit a site with Safari which happens to have a rouge TIFF image, maliciously put there.

I'm not expecting new features with this update, after all it's only a 'point update.' (meaning 1.1.2). The big stuff, if Apple are planning any, will be included in a milestone update, (ie. X.0.0), possibly 2.0.0.

P.S. The OP 'numberous websites' he/she supposedly quoted, was from one. This one: http://www.ipodtouchforum.com/software-applications/346-ipod-firmware-update.html Check - 3rd post down.

The touch and phone run basically the same firmware.. heck my touch is currently running the phone firmware because it seemed easier than mucking around configuring two devices when I could just mirror the OS from one to the other.

And yes when leopard was released both the macbook and imac got it at the same time.

Check the dates - that was quoting the post here not the other way around.

so with the inevitable update comming from Apple ( at some point anyway ) how do we get a copy of the 1.1.1 firmware to keep on our computer , in the event that we someday need to restore our Jailbroken ipods?

You probably already have it.. when you upgraded 1.1 -> 1.1.1 itunes kept a copy for restore purposes.

Well nobody believes in 2.1.1, but there's a new version due.. both for any regional/provider differences between the UK and US releases and because apple have a nasty security bug they haven't fixed yet (currently the only way to make your phone/touch secure is to jailbreak it! I'm sure apple aren't happy about that..).

2.1.1 is 1.1.2 backwards.. hmm... Maybe the OP was not only bulshitting they were being very uncreative as well :p

Whether the new version is released officially for the touch or not you can be sure a few people (like me :p) will be shoehorning it on there..

As seen on Numerous websites, Apple will be realeasing the iPod Touch update 2.1.1 on November 5th. Apple, unfortunately, was very mum on the update, giving only a few of the "numerous" updates it will provide.

"...but what we will tell you is that after numberous email request, you will now be able to purchase music videos, movies, and tv shows wirelessly on your iPod touch. Podcast are in the near future. A new calender event add will be available, users can now add their own background images to the home screen from their photo albums on their mac or pc. One of the most exciting updates is a new mail application suitable for the most used online mail programs and the ability to add your garage band music. Sorry Windows users. There are more, but why ruin the surpise...."

And, there was some talk on the new itunes update:

"...a lot of people don't know this, but this new itunes update WILL include some 3rd party applications for the user to download onto his or her ipod. The selection will be very limited as Apple is experimenting with the idea."

Get ready for a new iPod touch on that November 5th Day.
Think Apple would really make a spelling mistake like "numberous"?

Even better - there's a thread in this very forum (iPod touch hacks maybe) with a link to a page with the download - got it myself... just search "firmware"
