Really, Really??? how r they gonna track me like really i would like you to explain.

Well, it has been proven time and time again that depending on what you do and where you post it, the black helecopters move in. Kinda depends on the resolve of the site owners and your ISP. Some roll over and some don't.

Macrumors probably logs IP addresses, that's all they would need. With the correct legal elbow grease they could get your IP address from here and then contact your ISP which would also have a log of which IP address you were using at the time. Don't put too much faith in the security of the "anonymous" internet...

Hmph...breaking NDAs are never good. Not for the reason that you can be tracked, but because it's a matter of honor. I know, I'm old school, but you gave Apple your word that you would keep your mouth shut about the details of the update. Like I said, old school, but I believe that we are bound by our word, and breaking one's words is low and disgusting

This is good news. I am mainly concerned about the 3G to Edge handoff, so it is good to hear it is working better in this case.

You have a phone that they made that has a GPS in it and has the ability to report back all kinds of information about itself. :)

You figure it out... But if you are naive enough to believe if they wanted to they could not figure out who you are.. well uh.... er ummm...

You have nothing to worry about because they don't care.. but just don't be foolish enough to think the capability does not exist. You have probably shared enough information that they could find you if they wanted to and had taken the steps necessary to do so. :)

Back to sharing the good info.

All this information really isn't a big deal. Most of it was known by now. This guy could post his address, he probably would just get a slap on the wrist.

Now, if he leaked something major, and caused damage to Apple, Apple would of already been in contact with him.

look out!!! here comes the Gestapo!!!!

I would like someone else with 2.1 to confirm this. Ya know... they could be making it up 2... we need photo proof even its from just 1 person.

Has the issue of the screen suddenly brightening up been fixed in this update? I think it maybe to do with the auto brightness option. I can be using the iPhone inside (so no change in lightning conditions) when suddenly for no reason the screen will brighten up by itself.

This has to do with you accidentally putting your thumb over the light sensors. Under certain lighting conditions, you will see four burgundy circles in the black region of your phone's face. Don't put your thumb over those dots. Or better yet, turn off auto brightness, and set your brightness to 50% all of the time.

Great, more broken NDAs, does anyone care about the value of their word anymore?

I have a request ... after I have already loaded a web page, and I go back to home screen, and then return to the web page later, please do NOT automatically reload the page! I already loaded it - I might be on EDGE or no network now - please don't automatically reload the page!

Reloading is sometimes necessary. Safari does not keep all the previously loaded pages in memory. Even if you only have one web site loaded, it may go away if you've used a lot of applications before you go back to Safari.

I POSTED THE FRICKEN RELEASE NOTES.....Those are only given to the developors. The new edge icon is just a blue E in no box and the 3g is just 3g in blue and no box

Forget NDA!

Some people here need to relax a bit. Forget NDA. What btnnaz is doing here is what Apple should have been doing for awhile now---updating their loyal user base with the progress of their fixes for an obviously rushed and buggy iphone 2.0 software. So thank you btnnaz for your posts.

I don't know about you, but my instinct is to error on the side of serving the people and not "the man." It's not like btnnaz is breaking some moral law that has deep repercussions in life. He is breaking a corporate NDA (which I think is ridiculous and evil anyway and is only there to serves the companies). People we paid money for an iPhone---we have the right to know why it isn't working as advertised. Also, we are all talking about an object here---nothing more---sure it's an object that is important to us, because it is a primary way we stay connected in this digital era, but an object nonetheless. So if someone wants to break a NDA and has information that will give those of us who tossed a lot of money into a product that we thought would work much smoother than what we currently have---then I welcome it.

Please continue to give us updates on the different fixes that you have been seeing btnnaz. Now I need to take my own advice and relax myself and hope that Apple comes through and makes this device more usable.

Wrong.

Putting your finger over the sensor would make the iPhone think it's in a dark place. Correct? This would dull the screen not brighten.

Auto brightness is meant to brighten the screen so you can see it in bright light conditions and lighten in dark lighting. Not the other way around.

Auto brightness has a purpose and it should work and needs fixing.

Turning off is only a work around not a fix.

Interesting that you have "better" signal since -81dB means he is getting a better signal than your -93dB.

If the db measurement is measuring the signal strength to the phone, then yes, -81 is a better signal.

If the db measurment is measuring receiver sensitivity, then -93 is "better".

I have a gut feeling that the firmware will just display a higher number of bars which will placate 95% of the userbase. Unfortunately, the number of bars a phone displays is really useless, however most people consider bars the ultimate measurement.

Apple also may have increased the receiver's sensitivity to signal which would yield better results. We'll see.

I'm hoping on the latter. But, as I've been saying for a while now (and as someone who used CDMA for a long time), bars mean VERY little in CDMA-based networks, like 3G.

But hey, if more bars on the screen is our version of "Safari seems snappier," then I'm all for it if it'll calm people down.
