I'm having the same issue with the disappearing AM/PM value.

Also,

The AM/PM indicator should be much smaller than the time itself.

A leading 0 is not needed at all and is confusing. A leading 0 suggests a 24 hour clock is being used, especially if the AM/PM vanishes.

Which looks better?

09:12 PM

9:12 PM

Yeah i was thinking about that, the second one looks much cleaner. First one looks like it was written by a 10 yr old.

I think i'll just go back to the 24hr clock i'm used to it now anyway

just to clarify, did anyone find a fix for this to get the AM/PM back?

Honestly im in the US and i prefer 24Hr system, I got brainwashed into it when i was a jail guard, after i went to work in a machine shop and i used to get yelled at because the office ladies couldnt figure out my timesheets haha

Anyways back on topic i have never seen the iPhone do the AM/PM from the Lock screen. I read somewhere a clean restore will create it but i dont use AM/PM

i toggled, but nothing happened. eh i doubt its a bug, i think its honestly more for non at&t customers.

It is buggy because sometimes i'd toggle it and it wouldn't show again until i restarted/rebooted/re-toggled

anyone with at&t have am/pm who has their phone set to united states 12 hr?

Just got mine to work -
I went to SETTING-->GENERAL-->DATE & TIME-->Turned ON 24-Hour Time.
Reset the phone (held menu and power button until apple logo appeared)
Went back to SETTING-->GENERAL-->DATE & TIME-->Turned OFF 24-Hour Time.

Got it on my lock screen - see attached pic

Ok, I've never been fond of 12hr clocks but just turned it on using 2.1 and the PM WAS there on the lock screen (time said 01:32 PM). I'm in the UK. I've got no idea what it used to be like, if different.

I've now turned it back to 24hr because I can't stand the massive PM letters or the leading zero! (Only 24hr clocks should use a leading zero!!!)

don't know if it is related but my alarm didn't work this morning

set for 0730 woke up at 0808 :-(

and yes my time is set correctly

If you go into Settings>General>Date and Time>International>Region Format and change it to New Zealand, it will allow 12 hour time (without the leading zero!), but it will default to google.co.nz when you do a search in Safari, however I haven't found that to be a big issue.

All other region settings in New Zealand format are the same as the UK so apart from Safari, you won't notice the difference.

I do find it amazing that Apple are able to engineer some of the most fantastic things known to mankind, yet seem to have no end of trouble trying to implement 12 hour time in multiple regions...

This worked for me. Thanks for the info!

I've done the above steps which worked...for a while, then the AM/PM disappeared again.

While set to US by changing between 12 and 24 hr clocks and powering on and off several times, I never got AM/PM to appear.

I could only get it to appear with UK selected. So what is the difference between the UK and US mode?

I've tried UK, US and New Zealand - and all display the AM/PM indicator.

I tried Ireland and got a 12:58 a.m., which is unfortunately too wide for me.

Then I tried U.S. Virgin Islands and only then did the 12:58 AM appear. Really huge, I might add.

Edit: oh, yeah, and no leading zero for U.S. Virgin Islands: I see 1:01 AM here, which is good but also means I should get going :p

Bug

I think it's a bug. I saw mine didn't have the AM/PM.. so I did a complete fresh install. Still didn't have the AM/PM so I did the "turn on 24hr... reboot" etc. Had to do it 3 times and the AM/PM finally showed up on the locked screen. Stayed there for about a week and then it went away again. Did the whole "turn on 24hr... reboot" etc. 3-4 times and it eventually came back for a couple days. Now it's gone again. Looks to be a BUG.
