I'm doing a restore now. I'm just going to set it up as a new phone and import my bookmarks and contacts. Holy crap, I'm typing this on my Mac keyboard and I just hit space twice to insert a period. Hehe, I was expecting it to work for some reason.

Yeah, why doesn't it? In fact, why doesn't the Mac have the entire "typeahead" stack from the iPhone? I type almost as fast on my iPhone as my Mac... I can't imagine what I'd be like on the Mac with the same stack!
BTW, add me to the "2.1 lurve" crowd. Almost no instances of keyboard lag (a few times on the first word I type, after that, nothing), zero call setup problems (never had a drop, but lots of can't-connects that no longer happen) and dramatically improved battery life. Speed was initially improved, but has dropped back to ~1 Mbps today.

Apple replaced my phone after I updated to 2.1 and my dropped call numbers increased and calls to the phone would go straight to voicemail most of the time. This was a problem before but spiked after updating.
Apple did a diagnostic test on the phone and showed as of 2:30pm EST, a little more than 24 hours after updating the phone to 2.1 I had a 15 percent Dropped call rate according to whatever application they run on the phone at the "genius" desk. They swiftly gave me a new phone and want me to come back in a week to get the reading again. I am also having the same issues on my 2nd iphone on my family plan. There wasnt enough data for them to switch out the other phone but will be doing the diagnostic on both next weekend.
With the new phone, I am still having dropped calls but havent used enough to get get worried yet. And yes ive tried the stick with 3G off.. it still happens. The issues I am having with 2.1 are .. Make a call, it rings, they pick up, 3 -5 seconds later i hear 3 beeps and the phone hangs up and says call failed... Inbound calls go straight to voicemail when having full signal.. Outbound calls never ring, just silence until i hangup and try again.. Phone says missed call but never rang or only rang once.
I hope something is corrected soon for us who seem to have mutant Iphones that have dreams of being Ipod Touches.
