If you don't have a Mac then how are you developing code for the iPhone? The SDK toolchain only runs on Macs.

Ugh why are they making silly little tweaks to the Safari UI? What committee came up with that?

A. it's fine the way it is.
B. we're all used to it.
C. it took 4 coders and 2 designers a week to design and implement the change; time better spent on Safari stability and features we don't already have.

Agreed word for word.

It's like having changed the Edge and GPRS symbols six times. Why? They were fine and there are tons of much, much more important things that need working on.

how does one become a beta tester?

You can't - developers who were accepted as registered iPhone developers during the initial beta phase of 2.0 (before the iPhone 3G release) are the only people who get this. Whether Apple will change their policies in the future is completely unknown...

MESSAGE FORWARDING

for the one who asks for message forwarding
you can forward any message for free using bitesms application
you have to set the settings " mobile carrier " instead of bitesms server .. and it will used as a default application to forward messages

yeah...but for that one has to jailbreak the phone

i wonder if bitesms can do it......why cant apple do it in the naitve sms app:confused:

If you ran iPhone 2.0, 2.0.1, or 2.0.2, you've already been one! Congrats!!

Ha...and after that experience, I really don't want to beta test. Seems that Apple has learned its lesson though, now that they pulled push and are making sure it is 100% before release.

what i don't understand is they can make an IPHONE with an UI which is absolutely brilliant and they can't put a Copy Paste function how difficult it that?

and FWD Messaging ? you do need that as dont tell me anyone here never miss that?
what disappoint me is that its been more than 1 year and so many people complaining about it in many forums and apple still doesn't think its important enough.

Is it just me or does this thread seem to be BS? Those screenshots have been on the web for a few days.

Most likely they've just introduced under the hood code changes and gave it to the developers to see if it breaks any of their apps. I'm guessing these code changes are in place to support new features not presently in this first beta release for 2.2. Once they've ironed out what has been immediately broken with this new version and resolved it then they'll start seeding new features.

What is the usual time delay between the beta being released to devs and the real version being released to the public?
