okay,
read my sig for my machines, and you will understand where i am coming from.

Always go for the best processor/cache you can afford then add ram when you need it, 2gb is enough to start off with, watch your pageouts to determine when u get more ram.
i am looking at returning my blackbook for the 2.5 MBP

Anyone else with some thoughts on this matter?

After reading through a bunch of the threads, I'm convinced I should go with the 7200 HD.

But, I'm not sure which processor to go with 2.4 or 2.5.

Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver and Illustrator are the programs I use...

Thanks.

2.4GHz + 7200 HD + 4GB RAM = Sweet spot:cool:
Only reason to spend more might be to get the 17" additional space - even then I'd be looking an external monitor.

Of course if you've more $$ than sense...

Hey thanks dude i'll consider that :D

and how much did you pay for the extra 2 ram did you get 2x2gb sodimms? you install those by yourself right, and its reading the 4gb?

because a friend told me that he upgrade to 4 but only detects 3.

Paid 90 bucks for 2 x 2gb crucial ram. Installing is easy peasy..it was my first time installing ram by myself as well. So if I could do it..i think anyone can.:)

That doesn't make sense. NOT with msn. If you're telling me you're doing some heavy lifting with FCP, I'll believe you. But msn?

Dude, it's true! TextEdit feels like Call of Duty 4 on my Macbook! On my iBook, it was more like Pac Man. Go Penryn!

:) That's a whole different story macbook=penryn, ibook=ppc.

Well, like I said..if you got the $$ and must have the best get the 2.5. It's just that $500 extra so that msn is faster?? Call me crazy, but that sounds ridiculous.

For your needs, 2.4 with 4 gb ram is more than nuff'. If you were doing heavy video work..i'll suggest the 2.6 instead.

just my 0.02

felt is stating that the 100mhzx2 and the double sized cache is noticeable in msn :p i don't see why its a problem.

If I were you, I'd get the 2.4. For an extra $500, you can max out the RAM, buy a case, Office 2008, and toher things and still have money left over. I don't think that Apple sees that they're charging $500 for a 200MHz (Overall) processor increase. That or they just don't care...
