I was just wondering about those who are on or will be on the 2 gig per month plan. How large a file to download a firmware or update to the current iPad would be and would it exceed the 2 gig maximum for that particular month? I know it would only reflect for 1 month, but just curious as to how large a file update for an iPad would expect to be. Thanks for a reply.....😕

Why would you download an iPad update over 3G? Why not do it over wifi?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

You can't download the os updates directly. You must use a computer.

iPad firmware updates are done through iTunes on your Mac or PC and don't use your iPad data plan to download. App updates are a different story and vary greatly depending on the application.

I am on the unlimited plan now, and certain downloads are restricted 🙁

For something like a firmware update my guess is that you will have to do that through iTunes though. Probably safer that way because of the back up of the iPad data...
