Although my second computer was an Apple II, I did go down the Microbee/8086/286/Amiga 500/386/486/Pentium, Core, Core 2 Duo, Core i5/7 computers, going from DOS to Windows etc.

In 2011 I finally got a Mac, after first getting an iPhone in 2007.

It was only then that I discovered, once you go Mac, you don't go back!

Windows 11 tries even harder to copy some of the MacOS stylings with its centralised taskbar, and it is the nicest version of Windows yet, but macOS is just smoother and better in so many ways. Even the trackpad precision is exquisite.

Anyway, as a former Windows user, I like the Ubar app, and I put the Mac dock to the left, in hidden mode.

https://ubarapp.com

That may change with macOS Ventura that puts Stage Manager on the left. I might just turn off the dock altogether...

I also use Bartender 4, Paragon NTFS for Mac, AirBuddy, Copied and others.

Macs are the best. Wishing you lots of fun and success with yours!

But the information isn't untrue. The SSD situation is very real. It's just whether or not it will be an issue to you.
I now its an issue as prevent by those geek bench test and file transfers or gigs of data but who is the target demo for the air? 9 out of 10 its a non-issue for MBA buyers. and I predict the 256gb air will be a huge seller. Lets see ion 6 months. This is the same as the android people saying iPhones don't have real multitasking for a decade now. Its a non-issue. I use a m2 MB air and guess what, I love the screen brightness, speaker is good. SSD who cares I rarely transfer gigs of data. Its an awesome computer. I returned it because I want a different color and I'll buy another base model. I'm just saying for the majority of the people this is not something that even pops up in their mind.

an informed user who went with 256GB and is fine with it 👍
Yes, I just meant users who wanted more would go for more, users who didn’t need more would be happy with the base model.

I wanted more so my M2 MBA is midnight/10/24/1TB.

Most powerful Mac I’ve owned.

Really super smooth.

But, at my suggestion, my cousin has the M1 MBA 7/8/256 and is amazed at how much nicer the experience is than Windows computers, never having used Macs before but being a long time iPhone user.

So yeah, informed users come in all shapes and sizes. Didn’t mean to suggest 8/8/256 M2 MBA owners weren’t informed. Apologies.

I’m the same scenario as your cousin. Long time IPhone user but always windows until last week and don’t think I’ll ever go back to windows lol

Some hilarious posts on the page before this.

The M2 Air is quite easily the best laptop for holding, moving, carrying around, portability, in Apple’s lineup.

The design is also the best. Number one.

Now, that’s my opinion right there but everyone I’ve met who has the M1 14 Pro all agree the M2 Air form factor is superior. It simply is. It’s a thing of beauty. Absolute beauty.

The Pro on the other hand is a workhorse. Serious beast of a machine. If you do intensive pro-like work, get the Pro.

Funny though, it’s actually quite rare that anyone really ‘needs’ the Pro power. An M2 Air will suit most people.

So that’s why, for me, and now many many others, the M2 Air is the best laptop. It’s very powerful, supper quick and is SLIMMER and LIGHTER than the Pro.

Read that again; SLIMMER and LIGHTER than the Pro. There is literally no argument back to the fact that it is a better design than the Pro. Slimmer and lighter = better design.

Given that it’s also extremely powerful, for most users, it is the winner in Apple’s laptop lineup.

Every time I pick up my M2, I smile. It has quickly become my favorite laptop of all time.

Yeah, once you go Mac, you don’t go back 😂🤣

That’s certainly the case for me. I went Mac in 2011, it has been a decade of blissfully happy computing compared to the previous 20 years of DOS/Windows nightmares.

Well, it wasn’t that bad, but Windows 11 is still sub-par to MacOS.

im very impressed by the build quality every time I pick mine up and im so glad I got the midnight colour. Matches the rest of my electronics very nicely
Yeah, my iPhone 13 Pro Max and Watch S7 with magnetic link band are blue, so going blue with the MBA was a no brainer.

But I like red, too, maybe I’ll get a red watch and iPhone 14 Pro Max (if the 14PM comes in red, that is) just for a change :)
