It is mind boggling that multitasking on iPadOS is still so bad.

Also, why can't the software updates happen progressively throughout the year? For example, you fixed the podcast app, great, give it to us now.
I thought that they really improved the multitasking the last time. Finally giving explicit controls instead of secret handshakes. They could certainly expand on it and give support for external monitors but it isn’t true to call it bad now.

Apple does do progressive release of features. They only released Universal Control in the most recent updates. The last couple of years, when they say feature X will be in iOS 15/16 they mean that if it isn’t in the .0 release, it will release sometime in the year in a point release.

The biggest single problem I have with my iPhone 12 is that if I set a timer, it is so incredibly easy to turn it off by closing the case. To be sure, I really need to switch from timer to another app before doing so.

I find it very useful for cooking purposes. So far, I haven't had any disasters, but it has been close a few times.
What do you mean by “closing the case”?

When I set an time on my iPhone, I don’t have to keep the screen lit to have the timer continue working and for it to make sounds when the timer is done.

This is my main scary jump of faith situation issue with anything regarding upgrades… macOS Monterey didn’t behave up to specs until 12.3.1 for me, luckily the data sync and Dropbox/OneDrive nonsense didn’t really bother nor affect me.

I understand it’s impossible to get it perfect… but sometimes it’s so obvious, “AirPods don’t pair anymore”, or like the apple studio display camera issue (I have one, I love it, but the camera thing is damn real).

Woah! You know what? Try to send a feedback or request time permitting, it’s a great idea!

Ill do the same when I get to a computer.
Done and done!

Some options for people who have resting HR in the 30's would be nice...

Like being able to monitor if it drops into the 20's or below and THEN alert you...

Having the cutoff at 40 makes no sense for athletes like myself who wear this...

Here's an idea - why not make Apple Music work akin to iTunes more than a decade ago when it was fun* to use and engaging? You can still add all the other features but it doesn't have to look like a storefront for buying and get uglier and uglier over time.

I recently trialled a Pixel 6 for a few months, one of the things I did like in Android was messages support for sending at a specified date/time, would love that feature implemented within iOS.

Not sure what changes to notifications are coming with iOS 16, however, I did like the granularity of being able to specify silencing some notifications whilst allowing others through. I hope something like that might come as it was quite useful.

Enhanced spam caller detection and texts handling would be a major win given increased volumes seen nowadays.

It would be nice to see a customizable top area just like we can customize the control center.
Just pick and choose what you would like to see at the top of your phone with the ability even to remove the cellular symbols.

Would like to see the implementation of multiuser on a single device.

Also pursue the walkie-talkie feature when there’s no cellular signal to be able to message other iPhones within a few miles.

Can get behind this, less advanced though… I do use Siri daily a lot and many system wide or multi action instructions are done tons faster via Siri, things like:
- “remind me about the parking space every Wednesday at 9:30am”: this would be a bunch of taps, writing, scrolling, menus navigation, etc
- “Turn off all alarms”, don’t even know how to do that except going one by one
- Call x or y person
- add event on calendar
- Play music playlist “Running Workout” on Shuffle: these ones, by hand, is also a menu navigation and lists hassle by comparison

Understandably this is just the basics, but just these (when it works) is already amazing for me.
While I understand that Alexa and Google Assistant might technically be “better,” I still to this day prefer Siri.
I have both an echo and several iOS devices in our home, and between the two voice assistants everyone pretty much asks the same thing.
Timers, reminders, alarms, weather, simple fact questions (how old is so and so, how did so-and-so die, how many ounces in a cup, etc).
They all work just about the same. The biggest difference is that Alexa is always trying to get us to purchase something, even when we ask something simple.
“Alexa, what’s the weather supposed to be tomorrow?”
“It’s supposed to be rainy and between 40 and 50°. By the way, did you know that you can purchase additional add-on voices for fun, only $2.99 per voice. Would you like me to start charging you monthly for this feature?”
It’s the most obnoxious thing ever, and I’m very happy that Siri doesn’t do this. Even with all of Apple‘s new services, I have never once had Siri answer a Weather question with trying to get me to sign up for Apple Arcade or something.

And of course when the M1 iPhone comes out it would it be nice to dual boot macOS and iOS so that you can use your iPhone as a computer.
The iPhone will not get the M1.
Let’s squash that before it has the chance to go anywhere.
The M1 is fine in a laptop enclosure, it works in an iPad enclosure… but it would suck in an iPhone enclosure.
The M1 iPad Pro already has “meh” battery life, stuffing that thing in something half it’s size would be an awful idea.

Like clockwork:
Cometh WWDC, cometh a new iPad multitasking interface.

I wonder at what point they give up and accept that the basic premise of the original iPad OS was too constraining for complex multitasking?

Once that’s accepted, there are two options:

1- leave iPad primarily as a consumption device and stop messing around with the multitasking interface because it’s probably better to leave it alone so people get used to it

Or

2- make a fundamental change to the way the OS functions. So that multitasking doesn’t feel so clunky, awkward and hard work

I don’t know which they would choose. But sadly I feel like they will continue on the current path of denial.

As someone stated in another thread, notification syncing would be greatly appreciated. I dislike having to dismiss the same notification 3 different times between my iPhone, iPad, and Watch.
This! Still dont understand why i have 4 notifications for same message - i dismiss it on iphone, then watch, then ipad, then mac and again and again and again.. i actually hate notifications🤷‍♂️

Android can do that?

Impressive.

I‘ve done this using an automation shortcut, but it’s a bit of a faff.

Just a quick point…

…The Apple Watch Series 3 with Cellular does not need to be unpaired/re-paired with the iPhone to update to the latest watchOS firmware. This is because the Cellular version comes with 16GB storage rather than 8GB in the non-Cellular.

However, the Cellular version isn’t sold anymore.

Last iPhone I had was a 5s. From then till now I was in the Samsung Galaxy S family. I can say in less than an hour I was able to make the configurations I wanted on the Android phone to suit my vision. Now that Apple introduced widgets and such, I opted to go back to the iPhone (13 pro max). I admit I miss some things but really enjoy the "eco" facet more than I would have imagined. I have found a few things native to Android (like Google Maps) that are superior to the Apple counterpart. However, 1 week into the iPhone I was having buyer's remorse but come the second week, fully happy with returning back to iPhone. What I can say is that if* I were to stay in the Android universe, I would have opted for an upgrade to the S22+ Samsung phone. It is simply brilliant.

At this point they just need to stop and put Android on the iPhone, problem solved, all the millions of features people will never get or have to wait decades for will have them right away because whatever it is, Android already has it.

Flipping the front piece across the screen. I use what is sometimes called a flip case, other times a wallet case.

Though I actually suspect it would be little better if I had a different non-flip case (or no case) and slipped the phone into my pocket.

With each update, the iPhone becomes like a garbage house. Memory counting in storage settings works like a nightmare. I still see there deleted apps taking up memory on my iPhone and it's not clear what takes up so much in System Data. Also the iCloud backup still keeps the data of the apps that I deleted a long time ago. I understand this is all well protected data but damn why do so much of it?
