I just really hate the thought of siting at a desk again....seems the laptop has spoiled me, but i keep telling myself all i need is a 20" imac....but my eyes are drawn to the 24"... I could get a mac mini and hook it up to my 42 lcd....but did that and found it un comfie to read and work like that..

Maybe you should just get an external monitor and be able to work at the desk or be mobile.

I have just got a new 24 inch iMac to replace my white two year old 24 inch iMac and it is superb!

Why would I replace a newish machine? well i got it for free!:D

Older white CD2 had a video card problem, replaced by Apple, then it got a CD stuck, took it to local Apple Store for repair and they had problems getting a replacement drive, wrong mounting bracket or something. So because it had been two weeks and they had not tracked down replacement drive they gave me a new machine! All out of warranty I will add.

:apple:Apple, you are fantastic. This was customer service way beyond what you might expect

20" and 24" screens made by different manufacturers

...and yes, the 24 is better. In a different league for richness of color, and very easy on the eyes for reading. Recommend the 24".

I bought the 20 inch because I didn't have the cash at the time for a 24 inch. Of course I would love to have the 24 :). Having said that, I am not dissatisfied with the 20 inch in any way.

Do any of you guys remember earlier this year when Apple was sued because the 20" only had about 200 000 colours, while it was advertised to have millions? I remember reading on MDN that it was only the 24" that carried the "millions of colours". Is that still the case?

You're referring to the whole TN panel vs. IPS panel lawsuit/debacle. Generally, I'd think you'd be hard pressed to find an IPS panel in a widescreen monitor smaller than 24". Not sure what the deal is now, though. But it likely would be the same, though it has to be said, any of the LCD's Apple uses are brilliant and accurate, save for the MacBook. Even the MBA has a better screen. Pro>Consumer product differences.
