The Year of Outrageously Priced Generic Hardware Obscured by Spiffy New Buzzwords and Flashy Cases.
Oooh! Oooh! Where can I get these? Can I preorder before they are announced?

We know they're going to do it.

IA32 -> "revolutionary new architecture"
SSE -> "Apple Afterburner"
Centrino -> "AirPort Extrasensory"
EFI with spinny animated thingy -> "Apple System Recognition Manager"
TPM -> "the exclusive features of our new Mac systems"
depleted uranium PowerBook chassis -> "unparalleled performance"

Maybe this time when Steve delcares 2006 the years of "whatever" we'll realize that means that there will be no other news related to "whatever" for the rest of the year...

So hopefully Year of the Intel Transistion is out of the window...it would be bad to have that stall out.

the year of the apple sell-out

the year of greed

the year of dropping good for cheap

the year of making mac users mass buyers

the year of eliminating uniqueness and promoting consumption

the year of tha boomerang ( r.a.t.m. )

the year of me and my team going to the millenium series paintball tournament in disneyland paris(france)

:)

No, it'll be like the Willy Wonka Chocolate factory. Everything will be edible! iPods, Powerbooks and iMacs.

"1,000 songs in your pocket, 1,000 calories on your ass".

So, "Do not eat iPod shuffle" will be removed from the website?

Well said...

And I am of to Kamakira on January 2nd to visit several shrines as part of my annual New Year activities - and I will get my 'ema' with a dog on it and return my old one to get burned.

Now, as for Apple, it will be...

The Year of the Falling Stock Price - as Apple struggle to live up to the growth in the past few years with the iPod being as big as it is - it will take something really inovative to continue the growth we have been seeing - and Intel macs may not pack the sales punch many expect as users wait to see the stability of the new systems

Hey all,

Year of the iPod
Year of the Minis
Year of Change
Year of Cheese Fries?

Who knows... what's your thoughts?

SpaceMagic

year of the intel
or year of the sub-notebook, for macs

for sports,
year of the colts...probably superbowl win and tear through next season undefeated
...and probably year of the yankees, as if they didn't have any before ;)

for cnn,
year of anderson cooper

for music,
year of yet "unknown" band who will take the industry by storm

for politics,
year of the democrats in midterm elections

for most single people on this forum,
year of romance

ok, let's see how my predictions stack up against the psychics

Another Year till 2007, yeah. :D

Why do people even care what kinda of title year it will be for Apple Computers? They never keep on they promise anyhow, for example:

2004: Year of the notebook.....yeah, right.
2005 : Year of HD...........yeah, how about NO.
2006: Year of PPC to Intel transition........I will believe it when I see the entire Macintosh line there.

As you can see Apple never hits the nail on the head. :p

And Leopard will be out in around a years time!

Year of the Big Cat that Purrs

1. Most of what Leopard is supposed to be is dual processor architecture support PPC and x86. As the transition will take some time, however more code optimized for x86. :)

2. Streamline the apps.
3. Resolution independence.
4. Bio-Security.
5. Server oriented enhancements for the DoD.

count me on the "home media" bandwagon. something to do with video downloads/ streaming, etc. then again, year of HD was gone and forgotten about 5 minutes after last year's keynote, so maybe the whole "year of" business is pointless..
