I have looked back at the other posts and all I have seen is DONT buy a Chrysler, Dodge Caliber, Dodge Neon, and to buy a 2001 VW Jetta Tdi which in my opinion is overpriced for a 8 year old car. Yes the engine may last long m but what about the VW electronics, the body and suspension?

No reason to think that the basic mechanicals of the VW can't last far longer. There's a reason they cost more at the outset...they're better designed and better built. Of the older cars on the road, a disproportionately (compared to initial sales percentages) large amount are German and Swedish (Volvo). With that said, a new Mercedes isn't going to last like the 80s overengineered version did, but still, when you buy a good car (fancy or not), the money isn't just paying for a badge. Heck, my mom bought a Volvo 240 wagon brand new in 1987, and drove it until the summer of 2006 with almost no problems of note. Another good example: one of my good friends in high school got his mom's old VW Passat VR6 that lasted a good 16 years before being passed on (still working fine, but won a new car in a drawing(!)).

Rubber on bushings dry out, ball joints wear down, breaks don't last forever.

I think I'd rather teabag my sack in boiling oil before I'd spend money on either, let alone six or eight large.

LOL!
Hahaha I'd second that statement. If you want to buy the worst possible car available in it's class, either will cut it.

At least here Dodge Neon has the car that comes dead last out in every report.
The car with most breakdowns, corrosion and average age before taken out of service.

It's pretty harsh climate here compared to other countries around the world but Dodge/Crystler is by far the car that comes worst out. If you wanna buy american go Ford I guess, otherwise I'd recommend buy Japanese.

May I ask you to post a picture of your car or at least post what it is please.

I'm not going to get into a class war with you, and I would have been more eager to post something helpful if you didn't keep posting the same questions on here seemingly every month. Buy what you want. It's obvious that you're not listening to anyone here anyway.

Like i've said before there hasn't been any real advice ,but stay away from any Chrysler product.

Don't get something made by Chrysler, Mitsubishi, DaimlerChrysler, that has anything to do with goddamn Chrysler.

Every single Chrysler I've been in has felt of poor quality. The only Chrysler vehicle I really didn't mind was the Pacifica. They just reek of cheapness and bad quality to me.

waloshin, Chrysler is bullcrap. If you absolutely insist on buying a Chrysler made product, I'd probably side on the Neon. Every single person I know who has driven a Caliber instantly managed to hate it. Although I can't wholeheartedly recommend Chrysler but the Neon is a car that I didn't actually mind too bad - not bad looks, decently comfortable.

I laughed too hard at that.
