The Pats last game of the season (against the Giants) is on the NFL Network.. I'm wondering if it will be shown on cable....

Nope.

It's going to be broadcast OTA in Boston on channel 5 just like the preseason games were. Since the preseason games were also broadcast on 64 in the Providence market, I bet it will be on there too.

Uh, no, that's why it is called the NFL Network. That's like asking FOX to share it's games with CBS.

The NFL Network wants you to switch to Directv. Personally, I think it is a dumb move (from a consumer's point of view) to put it on a channel which only 20-30% of the nation can see.

It's like the NHL and NBA putting playoff games on cable instead of the big networks. Who watches?!

Good to hear...

Video evidence of Andrea Kremer creaming her pants during her postgame interview with Tom Brady last night. Not sure what's more impressive: the way Kremer's eyes rolled up into the back of her head or the way her voice dropped three octaves.

In the local markets the game will be on broadcast TV, otherwise you will need NFL Network.

A question for Pats fans, Would you rather go 16-0 regular season and risk a loss in the post season or lose in the regular season and win in the post season. The chances of running the table 19-0 are going to be hard to do, would you rather take off the pressure and lose a regular season game.

If you gave me a choice of:

A) 16-0 in the regular season and a 50% chance to win the Superbowl and go 19-0
B) Guaranteed Superbowl win but not 19-0

I'd choose A.

But here's the thing. None of that matters right now.

The goal right now is to go 11-0. One game at a time. That's the philosophy you need to win in pro sports. It worked for the Red Sox in the 2004 ALCS and 2007 ALCS. It's worked for the Patriots in 2001, 2003, 2004, and so far this year.

What about 15-1 regular season win Superbowl, or 16-0 Regular season lose championship game.

i blame the cable companies, not the nfl. but it doesn't matter to me, since i have directv.:D but i think dish network has nfl network as well on their basic package (not sure).

cable has been doing nothing but raise prices and cut channels for the past few years. that's one of the reasons we got sick of them a few years back. last we saw, comcast was higher than we pay for directv bill, and few complaints from directv compared to what we had with cable.

You do know one reason why cable bills are so hight don't you, ESPN and the sports networks charge a huge amount for carriage. The NFL Network wants something like 70 cents per subscriber a month for a year, even tho they only show 5 games a year.

Speaking of ESPN, they're now turning the NFL flashlight on the Pack for alleged in-team bonuses "bounty offers".

"ESPN reported that Packers defensive backs offered to pay the team's defensive linemen $500 each if there were able to hold Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson under 100 yards rushing two weeks ago, and another $500 for holding Carolina to under 60 yards rushing as a team on Sunday."

i know about that, but my question is why are cable rates noticeably higher than directv/dish with around the same channels? that's the question.

$500? That's loose change to these guys.

Should charge in reverse... if we can't hold (player) to under 100 yards we have to give $5K to charity. That's incentive.

To grab customers. They are trying to undercut the cable ops.

Well, think about it. If your satellite system burps, it isn't the satellite (it's your dish, card or box... usually the card that they can reprogram over the phone). If your cable is out, they might have to replace a junction box, line or router. It takes time and money to run a cable operation.

It's old technology. Their trying to sell fax machines in an email world.

Not to completely derail this thread but cable companies are run in franchises locally, they can fix an issue faster then a Sat company can if your dish goes out.

The big advantage DirecTV has is Sunday Ticket.

SHAWNE WITHOUT "SUPPLEMENTS" IS CLEARLY A DIFFERENT GUY

Last week, MDS noted that Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman, who notched 17 sacks in only twelve games a year ago, believes that he's having his best season, even though he has chalked up 5.5 sacks through nine games in 2007.

On Sunday, Merriman had one tackle and no sacks, so he's stuck at 5.5 through ten games.

The top photo was taken on May 5, 2005. The bottom photo was snapped on May 30, 2007. He is not wearing shoulder pads in the top picture and it is not altered. Looks like he has muscles in his forehead,lol....
The "before" version of Merriman had an encounter with Chiefs running back Priest Holmes in 2005, and Holmes just returned to the field a couple of weeks ago. The "after" got totally flattened yesterday by Maurice Jones Drew http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2007/11/19/size-doesnt-matter-maurice-jones-drew-destroys-shawne-merriman/

Who knows if Merriman intentionally or knowingly took steroids. But there's a difference this year in his play, and there's clearly a difference in his appearance.

Charlie Weis goes back to his past for guidance

Weis to discuss Irish woes with Pats

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Charlie Weis will do some serious self-evaluation after this season. Then the Notre Dame coach will let his old coaching buddies on the New England Patriots put their two cents in.

"I think that those guys would have no problem telling me what things I did right and what things I did wrong," Weis said Sunday. "I think those resources, those people, because we're close enough and have a very close relationship won't be afraid of saying to me, 'What the heck are you doing?' And that's what I want. I want somebody to be able to tell me, to say it like that. And I know that those guys would do that."

not so good without your roids now, aren't you mr. cheater?

what i don't get is how he hasn't gotten his image tarnished by roids like some baseball players have. but this just shows that it's the roids that gave him his edge.
