2008/9 COLLEGE Football Thread

Just saw South Carolina thrown an interception to Iowa. 🙂 I hope Iowa scores again. 😎 Score: 7-0 Iowa

Update: The score is now 14-0 Iowa!
 
lol at macdawg for picking sc over iowa. iowa is a team that should be 12-0 (11-1 if we didn't suck that night). they lost their 4games by 12points. they are a good team...

You are the biggest Big-10 stan around. I like the Pac-10, and I'm vocal in that camp, but I don't pretend our second and third best teams should be undefeated.

Oh well, off on my way to the Rose Bowl.

These turnovers are killing Georgia.

That last fumble was just a great play by the Spartan safety though. You can't really fault the Georgia freshman who coughed it up. Just a text book tackle.

The penalties aren't helping the Dawgs either.
 
Both defenses are doing very well. Georgia just is having too many penalties and turnovers. Michigan State needs to do better on third down.

Big Ten Alert: Iowa is beating South Carolina now 31-7
 
Yikes. Georgia's offense is having some tough times. It's a good thing their defense is still playing or this game could easily be 17-3...

Following a Georgia offsides that all but gave Michigan St. a first down...

when you have 4 losses by a combined 12points, i think you can argue that you could have went undefeated
 
Obey: so can alot of college teams its those 12 points that makes a team great

It could be said the same thing for texas, Texas tech, penn state to name a few

9-4 is a good year for first year head coach Pelini

last year they went 5-7

only losses this year were to VT, #4 Mizzou, #7 TT (in OT) and # 4 OU
 
Penn State is killing themselves with HUGE mental errors. Two huge plays for Penn State called back because of mental mistakes.

You can't do that against USC.

Bo has definitely been a blessing for the program. Alot of us were not happy with Callahan last season, and that frustration mounted very fast before the AD finally realized that Bill wasn't exactly meeting the program's goals.

Pelini's return really fired up the student body and the devoted fans. In fact, the student ticket T-shirts we got this year announced the beginning of "The Pelini Era". Alot of hype, yes, but it was well-founded. 😉

A good team... yes... a great team... no
Yes, SCarolina laid the egg and I should have known better, but I was loyal to the SEC with that one
They are classic underachievers regardless of who coaches them

I think it was more a matter of the Dawgs not playing well than Sparty hanging in there
Key penalties, mistakes and turnovers were killing us in the first half
It is like I said, if they came out flat, there would be trouble... and there was... for a half

Pelini did well in year 1, there is no doubt
The key will be to build on that momentum
I think the program is on the right track

My Dawgs get yet another 10 win season
I don't think they will crack the Top 10, but it is still possible
Say what you will about a disappointing season, but there are a lot of programs that would like to have 10 wins this year

Penn State came out strong, but the air has been let out.

I think USC comes out strong in the second half and puts the game away before the end of the third.
 
With the fumble and this score I think they've put the game away.

Big Ten lays another egg.

Too bad Ohio State is going to get blown out by Texas.

Big upset if the Rebs pull this off
They have a pretty good team, a solid defense and Houston Nutt has got them believing
If they can knock of Florida... they have the potential to knock off anyone

5:00 Liberty Bowl - Kentucky vs. East Carolina
ECarolina was hot early... but they cooled
Kentucky has a solid team that should make this a good game

8:00 Sugar Bowl - No. 6 Utah vs. No. 4 Alabama
Bama rolls
They are too strong on both sides of the line
They will wear the Utes down and put it away in the second half
