2008 Mac Pro Shipping Times

Checking to see what the actual turn around time is on a custom Mac Pro. i ordered mine on Friday and it shows to possibly ship on Tuesday-Thursday...

What about some of you - are they shipping early or do you have to wait the maximum time...

order my MacPro on saturday january 12 2008 and it will be shipped in 7-10 days, so i expected to be at my home 2 weeks time, i also customized my MacPro.

I have 2 conflicting ship dates...

From Apple:

Shipment Date:
Jan 12, 2008

Delivers by:
Jan 17, 2008

But from FedEx:

Ship date
Jan 11, 2008

Estimated delivery
Jan 18, 2008

I hope it's the 17th, I've been waiting a long time for this thing :)

I ordered my Pro last Tuesday. I upgraded the hard drive and added Final Cut Express. I also chose 2 day shipping.

Per FedEx.com, it should arrive at my house tomorrow.
 
Guys, its been a week since Apple introduced new MP and we still have 3-5 weeks when we choose 8800GT. Shouldn't it be 2-4 now? Or do you think it will take a while before it settles down? How long do you think this is going to last? I would like to order my MP either at the end of this month or in the first half of february. Are we gonna get down to 5 days or so? What do you think?
 
I would also like to know if the shipping time will to less than 3 weeks when adding the 8800..maybe at macworld?
 
The 8800GT adds to the time I believe because the 8800GT is a rare sucker out there. It was initially MSRP'd to PC's at like $239-249, but was price gouged the hell out of to $300+ and still could not be found. High demand + low supply for 8800GT's (and possible yield issues on the G92 as well) has limited 8800GT numbers in the PC world, and may be the cause of delay for the MacPro.
 
Mine will ship Feb 20th
What pushed the shipping date out so far is the Quadro FX 5600 :(

If you are planning to wait until February anyway, then why not order it now :)

Mine still says "Ships by: Feb 13"... I sure hope that goes down, but I'm not counting on it.

Mine ships the 14th, and I am counting on it shipping sooner :)

I realize this may just be wishful thinking, but I have had good experiences being pleasantly surprised by Apple ship times in the past. My parents bought a 2x500MHz G4 Tower within the first week of release and a 500MHz G4 TiBook sometime during the first month--both these computers (both custom configured) had month+ wait times like my Mac Pro does, and both those computers surprised us and came early :D....oh how I hope the same happens with my Mac Pro.
 
Ordered mine last night through the ADC store, says it will ship in 7-10 days, will update here once it ships with actual order to ship info.
 
Slipping Shipping

I ordered a quad 2.8 on Tuesday morning, which was scheduled to ship Jan 10 - 14. This morning I got an email message from Apple:
Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following item(s) as follows:
Z0EM, MAC PRO CTO
Ships by / Expédié le 17 Jan - 22 Jan
Delivers by / Livré le 25 Jan - 1 Feb

Delays, never a good thing


I would imagine this will also effect custom systems, since I added RAID card, Wireless, and upgraded to wireless keyboard and mouse

What is going on over there at Apple?? Seriously. Get your friggin' act together Steve!!! :mad:

The 3-5 week wait for the 8800GT is due, no doubt, to Apple's short-sightedness. When they were busy buying up all the Harpertown processors they should have thought of doing the same w/ the video cards.

You should see whats happening on the PC side, it's been short stocked ever since it was released in October, I highly doubt apple would have been able to stockpile any without raising its price.

Ordered mine on Tuesday AM as well, stock build except for upgrade to wireless keyboard and MM. Original ship dates were Jan 11-15. As of noon today it's still not flagged as shipped - guess I'll be getting the same email tomorrow.:(

Ordered mine last night. Added the 8800.

Shipping by Feb 21...Delivered by Feb 27.
