2008 Mac Pro Shipping Times

I'm in the UK and placed my order just before midnight on the Wednesday 16th. It's a 2.8Ghz, ATi, but with the Airport card, and wireless mouse.. estimated shipping was 5 Days (we estimate your order to be shipped on or before 23 Jan, 2008.
We estimate your order will be delivered to your shipping address on or before 24 Jan, 2008 - 25 Jan, 2008.)

but just got an email a few hours ago saying it has shipped and should be here before Wednesday 23rd.. seeing how TNT already have it i'm assuming it's coming from Cork, Ireland and in theory could be here on Monday. Either way I'm happy its getting to me earlier than expected.

I also ordered a 8800 separately, i figure the difference between the cards is definitely worth it as i use Motion and After FX etc. but not worth waiting a whole month for, and the difference in price works out at less than £3/$5 a day, which i don't mind at all, considering how much time i'll save in my workflow over my MBP.. plus i'll eventually have an extra GPU card, and from what i've read there is the chance i can run them side by side, which could be useful. And there's always ebay!

Ordering from Apple costs an extra $250 in tax. So I was going to order from somewhere like MacMall.com so I could save the money.

I also want to wait until the 8800GT is shipping. Anyone else have the same plan? Where are you ordering from?

The thing is, if the card is hard to get, the shipping-times could continue to be a couple weeks of for quite a while. That's why I ordered now.

This was briefly discussed last week. Many of us are using educational/government discounts through Apple, which saves 10%. And also many of us are using ADC discounts through Apple, which saves 20%. At least in the US. MacMall and other locations don't have these offers.

Additionally, some people feel more comfortable ordering straight through Apple to the point they're willing to pay the tax for peace of mind (I'm not one of these people, but I can understand the sentiment).
 
I ordered my MP through the ADC store on Tuesday night, Jan 15th. It shipped today (Jan 18th).

I order my MacPro at MacMall.com and i'm also getting a free copy of Parallel's 3.0 and free Epson Printer with my order but also my order is on BACKORDER because of the Nvidia Geforce 8800GT 512MB, So I have to wait a bit longer, hell I waited for a year to buy a computer, i've been using a PS3 ever sense Dec 2006 but MacMall doesn't give me date when it's going tp be shipped it just says MacPro BTO Backorder.

When adding another 2GB of ram, increased the shipping to 3-4 weeks.

There must be a shortage of memory for these machines
