Looking at that list it includes our club captain, three of our first choice back four, and our leading goalscorer. Superb. :(

I just traded out Mr Hunt for a Stoke midfielder, apologies.

It really seems like the team is mentally exhausted, and the run-in is going to be tricky. The match against Wigan in particular could be the decider, but Dowie needs to find some way to create a run of form. A few vital points are all it will take. By the way, whatever happened to Geovanni? He's had a quiet second half of the season.

That's the title race done and dusted.. but very painfully.. we lost to Spurs :(

Finally! More importantly, that's three points in the three game stretch vs. the top three that I wasn't expecting to get. On the other hand, they're really just back where I expected because they lost to Portsmouth instead.

Supporting a team can be annoying.

Now, that's quite the question. He got off to a good start for us but has gone spectacularly off the boil since then – recently he's featured from the bench but has done precious little.

The irritating thing is that there's a section of the support who – when things start looking like they're not going well – start singing for him to be brought on. Not only does it offer no encouragement to the eleven player who are actually on the pitch, he invariably does bugger all when he does come on.

I'd be surprised if he's not gone in the summer.

Really needed the 3 points against Portsmouth today so we could relax a little (and perhaps let Hull beat us is a few games time to put West Ham in trouble).

Oh well, 5 points clear, it might be enough.

Which does remind me--we need to start a World Cup topic soon.

The biggest stories of the World Cup this time around are:

1) Will Spain--a HIGHLY touted team--actually win the World Cup and not do another unexpected tank job in the knockout rounds?

2) Will one Diego Maradona make a mess of things with the Argentine team and drag down Lionel Messi along with him?

Nothing but bad news coming out of South Africa lately. I'm not sure if I posted this already, but a few weeks ago it was reported by the CBC that 500,000 tickets remained unsold.

Today more bad news regarding tickets. Could we see empty seats in some of the top fixtures?

Thousands of fans who queued overnight in South Africa finally got their hands on World Cup tickets, but scuffles broke out as computers crashed.
Some 500,000 tickets were sold at various venues on Thursday.
But police used pepper spray to control frustrated fans and in Cape Town a 64-year-old man died from a heart attack.

After three and a half hours in Cape Town, only 32 people out of a crowd of about 1,000 had managed to buy tickets.

Tickets for all matches, including the 11 July final, remain available.

What's Ashbee's status? It's always a bummer when the captain's hurt, especially a guy like Ashbee who has been with the club so long.
I'm not sure, there are rumblings he might be back before the end of the season but we'll see. It was a nasty injury and then apparently there was a recurrance of the bone problem that has caused him grief before.

One thing's for certain though – just the merest mention of Ash has currently got Europe paralysed in fear. He used to play in Iceland as well. :p

Interesting to see what happens if Tevez does score...

Ha! :D Hopefully he's back before the end of the season.

Liverpool is officially up for sale. I think it's insane that a club that is £237m in debt is being valued at around £500m. Hicks and Gillette are showing their true colors to the last as greedy businessmen with no real interest in the team. Eff them. But will someone actually buy Liverpool at that price, or are we in for a NUFC-style self-destructive farce? :(

I've said it before, I'll say it again – Liverpool picked the wrong American billionaire, they should have gone for this chap...

It's a pity your nefarious ancestors blew the Blackadder family fortune, your Lordship – otherwise you could have put an offer in yourself. ;)

This season is just not predictable is it. Chelsea somehow lose at the Lane and the remaining two are still in it...especially with Chelsea still having to go to Anfield

Not another United title please...just no!

 No good results from my perspective, and Columbus are on a bye week so no joy in the MLS either..

Fergie Time. Probably my two least favorite managers in the prem are Fergie and 'Arry. I dislike them so much it actually makes me hope Chelsea wins the title! how sick is that?

C'mon Ancelotti, TRY not to balls this up eh? If United stumbles across the finish line ahead of Chelsea I am going to die inside a little bit.

Pretty much agreed on all counts. I just started laughing when United scored that late goal and wondered if Chelsea would bottle it and lo and behold...

If United win another trophy i might just become a neutral and stop paying as much attention to the EPL

A potentially very valuable point for us today at St Andrews. Our nephew Short Cake was City's mascot today so there was a big family trip down to the West Midlands — it seems he brought us a bit of luck.

He got all the player's autographs and got to watch teenage midfielder Tom Cairney having a vigourous massage. Heh.
