A mate of mine was at a local betting store about to put a considerable sum on a "vision" he had which included all top three teams ending the season on equal points and Arsenal taking it on goal difference.
He was laughed out of the shop after being told they wouldn't do the bet. From there he came straight over to my place and I told him about the Wigan result.. he almost fainted with relief.

This has been a rough season for me in the Prem. Pretty much every team I like to watch, with the exception of Fulham, has been poor, and every team I dislike is doing well. Bah! Humbug.

I've decided to be a neutral when it comes to continental football, to avoid further disappointment.

The breaking news on SSN is that Fernando Torres is to undergo knee surgery which will keep him out for the rest of the season – apparently he should be recovered in time for the World Cup though.

Well, there goes the Europa League then. An Athletico vs Fulham final would be an interesting affair...

I'm not bitter though, why should Torres be risked when Liverpool have almost nothing left to play for? I want to see him shine in the WC, Spain should be a contender this season. I hope he's healthy in time.

It's Chelsea's then, the rest of the Liverpool team are cheating their manager.:)

Adrian Chiles off to ITV; probably pushed after describing the dire Portsmouth versus Aston Villa game as exhilarating.

A number of shocks over the weekend, one being Scholes can tackle.

Ferguson - unless he knew Scholes would score with 20 seconds to go, I'm not happy with his 'rather hand the Title to Chelsea, than lose to Manchester City' attitude. Buck up your ideas young man!

Arsenal followers - on the radio someone, possibly Robbie Savage:eek:, mentioned that Walcott would be better playing as a striker instead of a winger because he wouldn't have to decide between crossing and shooting. What do you think?

Cheers,
OW

A massive 3 points for the Latics in their comeback win over the Gunners. Wigan should be safe now, which will (hopefully) allow them to lose to Hull and get West Ham relegated.

The brother of Man U striker Mame Biram Diouf was beaten up after the Manchester Derby by City fans, who were also heard shoutinig "Munich!".

I can't stand United...but only within a sporting context. When it turns to actual violence or references to real tragedies, that's just sick.

:D I'm sure Jaffa would like to see that happen. I hope my Reds will do their part and crush West Ham today.

We are trying our damndest to prove you wrong, sir. ;) Benayoun is having a good game and N'Gog seems to have discovered some finishing skills...lets see if we can see the match out.

Of course, it helps that West Ham are capitulating.

EDIT: Liverpool are 3-0 up but it's not all joy for me...USA international defender Jonathan Spector is not exactly covering himself with glory for West Ham. There's a lot of debate about him being a defensive liability for USA.

There's still time for you to Arsenal it up yet... ;)

I absolve him of any blame – it's all clearly the fault of England custodian Robert Green. :p

Ok Jaffa, we've reduced West Ham's goal difference by 3 after this beating, and Carlton Cole has a pair of gammy legs. :D

Winning today doesn't help us all that much though, apart from perhaps boosting team morale ahead of our Europa League match at Athletico.

Well, he is being asked to play out of position, so that might explain it.

He's had to do that for the national team as well, with similar results. I think he's a decent player, but he's not really shone at the international level for us. We don't have much depth in our left/right back positions though.

EDIT: I see that the Liverpool squad boarding the train all have matched luggage with the club crest on it, and each player's shirt number is on his luggage as well. Pretty spiffy. :)

Barca to win today by a one goal margin, I feel like Inter will keep it close but their bad domestic form is going to catch up with them in the CL. Messi is a tad off the boil and sat out training though...

Damn. I did not expect that. Barca held on to the ball as usual but Mourinho sure knows how to counterattack. Inter gave up an away goal though, they'll want to score early in Spain.

The return leg should be a classic!

Bad domestic form, scintillating European form. They defended incredibly well, Cesar made some great saves, and they took their scoring chances well. The return match at Nou Camp is going to be very interesting indeed, as long as the real Messi shows up for that one. He was about as quiet as can be tonight.
