Who do you want to go up? My vote is anyone but Leicester. I'd like Forest to go up because they have a lot of history in the top flight, plus my cousin supports them. I'd like Cardiff to go up because I think it would be cool to have a Welsh team in the premier league, and I'd like Blackpool to go up because it would be another north west team.
I'd like Forest to stay down. I went to university there and was looking forward to seeing City play at the City Ground when we got promoted to the Championship, but they got relegated in the same season – only coming back up in the same season that we got promoted. As such, we've missed each other over the years and I've been denied the away trip!

Blackpool going up would be ace, if only to see how long it takes for the media backlash to start against Ian Holloway.

Meanwhile, a point against Liverpool for us that would have been most welcome most other weeks of the season. I must say, given the financial troubles Liverpool are currently in it was jolly decent for their supporters to pelt us with coins at the end of the match. They're the best fans in the world, don't you know?

And now for a summer of uncertainty.
That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You might lose some limbs, mind.

Anyway, I've got to think up a new sig now...

Yeah, Chelsea were clearly the best team all season, but United finished only one point behind them. Tevez and Ronaldo still aren't missed, but I think Michael Owen would have done better than Berbatov in some of the more recent matches.

Both teams are old though, and face a rebuilding process in the next two or three years.

It's safe to assume Chelsea and Man U will continue to pass the title back and forth in a poredictable manner for a while yet. What is more interesting is 3rd-7th place, since there has been a big reshuffle. Will my boys make it back tot the top four, or are we set for years in a midtable wilderness or worse? Can Spurs and Man City continue to challenge for top four finishes? I say Man City are guaranteed to push into the top four purely on money. Money will get you everything in this game, given time and patience. But Spurs don't have that kind of cash, nor do Liverpool...and what happens with Villa now? They can't compete in terms of money either. Will O'Niell go?

Sorry

I threw dollar bills but they don't fly as far, they just floated down slowly. ;)

I support the squad but the fans often don't cover themselves in glory with antics like this.

I think my house may have been taking the final day a bit to serious..... United on the left and Chelsea on the right  Geeky Football goodness.

Is there any significance to the relative size of the screens? (perhaps the banner on the wall is a clue) :D

Congrats to Chelsea, they won it in style too and lets face it deservedly so.

Just goes to show Utd were too reliant on Rooney and are a weakened side without Tevez and Ronaldo.

I think Ferguson doesn't believe the midfield available is strong enough to play as a 4 against the 'top' teams; this leaves him with Rooney. Hargreaves has been a big miss.

Jaffa - Blackpool - Jimmy Armfield will deal with the Media. :)

Cheers,
OW

England could potentially have a very good World Cup showing, but it's going to be Brazil or Spain. I think the best England can realistically hope for is a Semifinal appearance. It will be interesting to see how Italy and Germany fare as well, they are both playing OK but not convincing me.

with england it depends on Rooney being in exceptional form ... the younger players simply don't have the class of the generation they are replacing

with the germans it looks like the opposite . .the current "young guns" there are rather hungry and leaps and bounds better than for example the squads of 4 or8 years ago, especially in the (attacking) midfield where i recon that the germans have the most talent currently
and sicne their preparation so far has been mediocre i suspect them yet again going into the cup rather strong

I appear to have got my predictions hopelessly wrong, therefore the prediction thing never happened.

At least you got a couple right. I was shamefully off the mark all round, starting with my hopes that the 'Pool would lift the title.

...unless you count my prediction that Ashley Cole would be arrested to mean that Ashley Cole would be "arrested" by injury. :D

I made a late surge in the fantasy cup at least, spearheaded by my willingness to set loyalty and good taste aside and ditch the injured Torres for Drogba. Another top ten finish.

I was wondering when somebody would bring that up...

I, like many others, was well off with Liverpool. And I had Sunderland for the drop. And Celtic to win the SPL ("Smith to go by the end of the season and replaced by McCoist."). And Real to win the CL.

I got my BPL winner and two out of three of my relegation picks right. Brum really exceeded my expectations, though. Good on them, and condolences to Hull. I'll watch the Championship more closely next season.

And yeah, big miss on Celtic for me as well.

I predicted a Real win in the Champions League solely based on the amount of money they spent. Despite all the cash, it looks like Real will win nothing this year.

His garden must be looking lovely by now!
Brown has been the subject of hate and ridicule by the media and public alike for a long time now – be it complaints about his leadership style or those embarrassing faux pas he commits in public. That's even before we get onto his allegedly bullying behaviour behind closed doors...

Even when he's been officially removed from his position though, Brown's still technically holding his old post – but lacking the power to make any decisions or affect any change – while deals are struck by others and a successor can properly be agreed and installed.

The question is – which Brown am I talking about, Phil or Gordon? :p

Next year with Jose?

I hope not...Although if he decides to go to Spain it will surely be to Real...I'm not sure Barca want The Translator back, and he has no love for them either....

Mourinho won't go to Liverpool - he only goes with contender clubs. Wenger isn't going anywhere, nor is SAF, and Ancelotti just won a title (though that means little thease days in terms of job security). Seems like if he stays in Italy he'd stay with Inter. So Real certainly seems a good bet doesn't it? But I hope not.

A tour de force Jaffa. Do they put PMs on "gardening leave" as well? :D

EDIT: Just looked at the preliminary Spain squad. A very strong squad.....hard to see that group failing to make it to the semis at least. Out of the 30-man squad, 27 play in Spain.

Ouch! Can't say I'm surprised though and after I saw him 'chatting' to Mancini Sunday I knew it was coming.
Nice guy, and he might make it as a manager. Perhaps he should work as an assistant manager somewhere and get some more experience.

25 years since the Bradford City fire, and Heysel on 29 May.

These two tragedies, plus what happened at Hillsborough in 1989, is why security is so strict at soccer stadiums in the UK and why just about every stadium in the UK are all-seater stadiums. Yes, we lose the tradition of the standing terraces but I'd rather make sure the fans are safe in case something goes wrong inside the stadium than have another fan-induced tragedy. Germany still has standing terraces, but I can guess that the security in these stadiums have very strict rules on how many people can be in those standing terraces.

So, Capello named his preliminary 30 man squad for the World Cup

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green.
Defenders: Leighton Baines, Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock.
Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Tom Huddlestone, Adam Johnson, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Shaun Wright-Phillips.
Forwards: Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney.

Any thoughts on which 7 don't make the plane to South Africa?
