620 HP and 595 lb of torque???
BRUTAL, it will need an experienced driver to control this beast
or it will end up like this

i just saw this yesterday for the first time...the saddest i've ever been over a car:(

The Corvette will never truly compete in my mind. Sure, you'll get similar horsepower, torque, etc numbers, but there are very few Corvettes that look as good as Ferraris and Porsches (IMO, I understand many people will disagree with me). As for price, who really cares, when you're looking to drop 100k plus on a car that's the last thing you should be worrying about. Should be interesting, I hear Ferrari has had a Dino prototype out that is supposed to be lower end to compete with the 911 Turbo and others lower ended offerings. From what I've seen it's not my favorite Ferrari, but I definetly think it's better looking than a Corvette.

True, but the Corvette has a loyal following that many people wouldn't sway from. This car is a real performance bargain compared to a Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. I also agree that this car has nothing on looks compared to a Ferrari or Porsche. Heck, even the Viper draws more attention than a Corvette. The Corvette is the everyday sports car. The others (with the exception of the Porsche 911) are weekend toy's.

Actually, I've got my eye on a vehicle, too...

Now, some of you may be thinking "Why would you want that?" Some of you might try to point to sluggish performance; others might take issue with it's (somewhat) low top-end; and others like Juan Moro might drone on and on about the impact to the environment. Blah blah blah. But I say no, sir. Here's my reasons:
  1. It is incredibly stable and, even on extremely steep banks, due to it's weight is unlikely to ever tip.
  2. Essentially invulnerable to front- or rear-end, or even side collisions (which is a good thing since it's steering wheel contains no airbag!)
  3. Unlikely anyone would ever steal it, so extremely low insurance rate.
  4. Extremely tolerant of even the roughest road conditions.
  5. Guaranteed never to be ticketed for speeding.
  6. Largest towing capacity... ever.
  7. Largest carrying capacity... ever.
  8. Never have to worry about not being able to take your home (and several of your neighbors') with you on your next trip.
  9. Host your own football... field.
  10. The mind boggles at how many Macs you could network on top of it.

The biggest question is: will it be able to go around corners?:D

The last generation Corvette goes round corners surprisingly well, even Top Gear agrees (look at where it is on their power lap chart). The only thing they disliked about it is how bad the interior is. Hopefully the new one is nicer inside, because then it would be a true "giant-killer"

( for the ricers here, that is 100 HP/L :p ).

The lazy-arsed supercharging approach doesn't count. :p

The bigger question is whether it'll promote the Corvette brand outside of its current customer base and tempt more people to abandon their more sophisticated marques in favour of a more economical (cost wise) alternative?

Here is an interesting tidbit, according to Road&Track the front brakes are from the Ferrari FXX and the rears are from the Enzo. This thing is going to be SICK!!!!

And the history books will read "Fifty years before the human race started to decline, and even though they were already aware of global warning and had the technology to make electric cars, they kept creating new ways of producing even more CO2"

Considering how relatively few of these cars will be sold (and even fewer used as a "daily driver") I don't think their environmental impact will matter much at all.
