I have a 13" Mid 2010 MBP. I currently have 4GB and I've been thinking of buying Tropico 4 which requires 8GB of RAM with my model.

Doing some research, I saw I'm able to put 16GB in.

My question is would it be worth this? OWC has the 16GB kit for $165. From what I've read there's limited types that will work. The 8GB kit from Crucial is $76 and the same one on Amazon is $62.

I don't do much on my MBP, but may be doing some light photo editing in the future along with maybe some light iMovie stuff, whenever I get around to doing it.

Get 8GB now, and upgrade to 16GB later. It'll be cheaper later.

Agreed. You should be OK with 8 GB right now. Move up to 16 when you need it.

Well, if it resembles THIS particular 13" MBP then I would agree that it should take 16GB of RAM.. I have always had GOOD Luck (if that is even the case) with Mushkin Ram in my Apple products, having put 8-10 packages into my computers and my friends over the past 5-6 years.. Made in the USA, and a great warranty, as is Crucial too!!

I have shopped at Newegg for most of it, but I suspect buying at most ANY available store that you support is acceptable.. However, as I look now on Newegg, I DO NOT even see any 8GB sticks available of any brand..??!!

Good Luck on your quest, maybe Crucial may have.. I hope..

That's the one. I just don't want all that RAM sitting in there. But if I'm going to need it it'd be nice to have.

I would say go for the 8GB, and those prices for the 16GB are WAAAY overpriced from what I've seen.

check NCIX.com they have really good prices (in general) and on RAM

If you need 16GB, then probably you would also need something faster than a 2010 13" MBP. I suggest you upgrade to 8GB now and then look at your options in the future when you need more performance.

It's amazing there's so much Flux in ram prices. A year ago I bought 16gb for my pro for 80 bucks and now there up too 130-160. Craziness.

while I agree to get 8gigs I disagree with the second advice. later doesnt mean cheaper - let me know when those 2x2GB 667Mhz modules for 2008 MBPs drop in price (probably never).
