With Chelsea, there seems to be something going on behind the scenes at the moment that's affecting performances

I'll say. Monday morning headlines:

'I am not in control at Chelsea,' admits dissatisfied Carlo Ancelotti

Ancelotti on the brink

Ancelotti's fury at lack of 'control' over Chelsea

Once again, Abramovich's paws are all over this, undermining the coach.

Meanwhile... Fuzzy, grab your whistle and a notebook and head back north – it looks like you might be needed.

Nah, I'm over qualified since I got my eyes lasered (funny enough, refs in Scotland are sponsored by Specsavers!)

It's ridiculous, I hinted about these stories a couple of weeks ago but didn't really want to go into it as there is a lot of abuse being thrown about by both sides of the old firm and I really don't like to get involved with it. Historically, Celtic have had a chip on their shoulder about refs being against them (much to the annoyance of all the smaller teams who think refs are for the old firm.) There have been books and stats published trying to prove the point either way. I think Lennon has used refs this season to promote a team spirit of "everyone is against us" but has gone a little too far and stated to believe his own press.

It's not easy being a ref in Scotland, as soon as you blow your whistle you have to consult this wallchart.

Goodwill:

(Cue violin) I remember the days when there seemed to be a lot more rooting for other UK teams playing in Europe; Leeds United v the cheating Germans :) - Bayern Munich, Liverpool v Borussia Mönchengladbach/FC Bruges, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, Ipswich Town, Derby County, West Ham United, Everton, and even Ferguson - Aberdeen. Somewhere along the line that changed, or I misread the situation.

Cheers,
OW

Is that not Spur's first win against a 'big four' side for like many many years?

I know it's the first PL win against Arsenal away from White Hart Lane since 1993. Also Arsenal's first back-to-back home losses in 13 years. What a glorious day!

The fact that I rejoiced over the outcome of a midseason game indicates how lame the "rivalry" has been for a long time.

Oh dear. Never mind, we all have skeletons in the closet! When I was 4 my gran put a Celtic strip on me and took a picture, she still uses it to blackmail me!
We demand to see the picture! :D

To be fair, he's supported them since he was a nipper – his favourite England player at the time played for them, I can't remember who it was but I'm tempted to say Jimmy Greaves.

lol...i'm glad i didn't bother watching that. FC Braga 2-0 Arsenal. Fabregas lost (hamstring), Eboue lost, chance to top the group lost and now facing qualification uncertainty.

Defeat manner: Classic Arsenal apparently, on top for 80 minutes, lose concentration, and the rest as they say is history. Ref had a shocker too apparently.

Well done lads.

Braga commit the unforgivable sin of playing music after they score goals.

I suspect that doesn't make you feel any better.

Hahahaha...it wasn't even good music either from what i could garner.

Eh..i'm somewhat used to it now so i'm mostly laughing than upset funny enough.

BBC Live says fans are particularly calling for Wenger's head along with the purging of some players, who simply don't belong in an Arsenal jersey tonight.

I agree with the latter but frankly i'm also tempted at the thought of the former even though i know its preposterous

No need Fuzzy, I'm afraid. Once again Manchester United manages to conjure a late goal to win. The script is a well-worn one.

As for Arsenal, they remain inconsistent. Luckily for them, at least in the league, everyone else is also inconsistent. However, by remaining undefeated, Man United has now caught up with Chelsea.

Many people have been commenting on how interesting the league has been this year, but the only change has been that the top teams have struggled somewhat - even though they remain the only teams with any hope of winning the league. So, in other words, we have an illusion of increased competition, but the only real change is that Liverpool is out of the running.

Probably a deserved win for Man U. We did well to contain them, but they had most of the chances (although we had a few.) It was by far a better game than the one at Old Trafford. The silver lining is with Valencia winning we are guaranteed the Europa Cup spot.

I'll be returning home at the weekend to dig out my whistle - the ref strike is on (if the games aren't cancelled due to snow).

Still wating with bated breath to see if the ref strike in Scotland goes forward.

If Liverpool beat vaunted Tottenham this weekend, we will go even with them on points. But we won't. Glen Johnson vs Gareth Bale = butt-hurt for the Reds. He might have looked good against lowly West Ham, but Johnson will be eaten alive by Bale. Spurs' defense is still shaky, but Liverpool's is no better.

No Gerrard, but Cole might be fit...perhaps this will be a good chance for him if he's played in the middle in lieu of Stevie G.

EDIT: This may be considered a bit flippant (no disrespect to Plymouth intended), but I was having a look at Plymouth Argyle's kits over the years and was shocked to find no...well, argyle. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen an argyle-patterned kit. Food for thought. ;)

The template set that I use to whip up the shirts for our Fantasy Football teams features an Adidas design with an argyle-patterned front panel – I'm not sure which real-life team sports it though.

In saying that, I seem to remember Boca Juniors wearing argyle socks a few years back...

EDIT: Here you go, your Lordship – I had a suspicion that it might have been Olympic Marseille (who aren't afraid of odd patterned shirts), and sure enough, from a couple of years back...

Classy. Plymouth should do it. :)

So by that reckoning, should St Mirren change their strip to Paisley Pattern?

Or Columbus players give their hair a Crew cut?:p

I'd be up for that. Lokomotiv Moscow players would all have to dress like Mr. Conductor.

Well, Adidas do make their kits too... <strokes chin>

Ghana's Hearts of Oak could adorn themselves with leaves and acorns, although I dread to think what Peru's Deportivo Wanka would do. Cripes.

We managed a 2-2 draw at wintry Middlesbrough today, luckily the kit man paired our black away shorts with the otherwise all white away strip, otherwise our players would have been completely camouflaged...

Short sleeves - good lads. :p

I say do it, Plymouth. No excuses!

Or Queen of the South?

Looks like Allardyce is taking his role of lapdog/Ferguson's bitch a little bit too far :p

It's a contest between him and Steve Bruce to find out who is the biggest shill for United. :D

I've always wanted to see a game in snow.

Just seen the floating shorts on the BBC.:) They mentioned the colour of the ball, is an orange one available?

Cheers,
