Otherwise, what a poor game for United. Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov, Chicharito, and Rafael seemed like the only visitors who showed up. Rooney, Fletcher, and Nani continued their poor runs of form; Darron Gibson simply has no business playing in the BPL.

Other than Rooney not showing up, I didn't think it was a poor performance from United. Credit to Blackpool for going out there and trying to create a miracle victory. United have the advantage that they always firmly believe they are going to win; there is no other team in the league that have that mentality. When they go down a couple goals, they don't panic because they know they are going to equalize and finish the game pushing for one of their characteristic late winners. It's a tremendous mental advantage.

I really wished they'd hang on but alas...

Apparently they had a strong penalty shout denied. Lucky lucky Utd.

I have yet to watch a video of it, but a friend of mine back east was watching the match and said it was a penalty. Makes the game even more heartbreaking for poor Blackpool.

Also in transfer news Real have secured Adebayor. I'm still wondering...why?

Most Man City fans will probably be content to see the back of him, and not ask questions. He's obviously got talent, but I don't know what Jose's reasoning is for bringing him on. Still, people question The Special One at their peril...

1. german Cup quarter final had one of the classic miracle moments
Schalke vs Nürnberg 2:2 after 90 minutes
in the 116 minute Schalke makes a substitution and puts a 17 year old youngster Draxler on the pitch
118. minute with his 2. touch of the ball he scores a fabulous 25 meter strike for the decisive 3:2

Nice. :D So who is the favorite for the Cup now?

Rafael blocked Varney off the ball in the penalty area. 50/50 call IMO. I think Rio's penalty against West Brom was a bit softer than that.

Guess Jose is pretty desperate for a striker. I can see Ade making a decent contribution at Real given a regular run out, and he should have the opportunity to do so.

He's a headcase, but he didn't score 30-odd goals for Arsenal by accident. Mourinho is an uncompromising perfectionist, but he's also a past-master at motivating players.

Given the right conditions, Adebayor is probably capable of delivering top performances again. It seems that Adebayor is Real's plan B since they've failed to pry the ancient but still effective Ruud van Nistelrooy from Hamburger SV.

It sort of was by accident. He didn't get anywhere near that again the next season.

Bendtner gets a lot of stick, but for those who haven't seen it, his goal was fantastic. Technically brilliant...

Henry-esque move that and his cross for the Van Persie chance was very good. Shame he isn't consistent.

Edit: Looks like Mr Gray is planning to retaliate

Blackpool,

Penalty - a matter of upper body strength. The stress of the Charlie Adam affair has affected Ian Holloway's noggin.

Manchester United's first half performance - poor formation selection by Ferguson.

Cheers,
OW

That would be a huge dent IMHO.

I watched the monday night match and the commentary/break analyses were really boring.

I'm still hoping we can get Luis Suarez, but only if the price is reasonable. If they won't back off their 30ish million price, I'm happy to wait till summer.

I'm sure Gray and Keyes are replaceable. That interview Keyes gave today was weird and rambling.

If they're looking for another presenter/former footballer duo as a straight replacement, I have just the man.

A famous footballer who has already started a fledgling media career at Sky? Step forward Dean Windass. :D

I can't see him being able to work Gray's discarded pundit technology, though...

That would be great. :D

Especially since he's "done it on a cold, wet night in Hull City", so he passes the English Football Capability Test.

Poor West Ham. I was rooting for them cos I'd rather we play them to be honest.

On another note, another win for King Kenny.

Congratulations to Arsenal as they win their first silverware (aside from the Emirates Cup) in years, since they cannot possibly fail to beat Birmingham in the Carling Cup final...

...Right? :D

That team gives me the creeps ever since the Eduardo incident.

Now is not the time to be squeamish. Arsenal have very nearly a fully fit squad (missing only Vermaelen at the moment I think), they are on good form, and in contention for everything. Pull your finger out and go win someting! ;)

Yay, Lincoln City have finally pulled clear of the relegation zone by one point. Still have four matches in hand on the two teams below them too so that's a bit of extra security, although not guaranteed.

And Kenny's new reign at Anfield remains undefeated. Torres continues to fire now, albeit disallowed goal, but see, even when Liverpool can't score, they still win under Dalglish. More importantly, two clean sheets in a row which they haven't managed since the end of October so the defence is improved too. So they are now back up to 7th, their highest position of the season, which is also where they finished last season, so Kenny's comeback is so far not the failure some have predicted. It's actually looking pretty good so far.

Not looking so good where they seem to be having trouble in the transfer market though. That Comolli bloke doesn't seem to be getting any respect from the selling clubs. ;)

I tell a lie in my previous post about their maximum possible tally of 74 not being enough for a CL spot. Spurs got the fourth spot last season with 70 points, so assuming the same is needed this season, Liverpool can't afford to lose more than 1 more game and draw 1 for the rest of the season. That's probably even beyond Kenny's miracle ablilities. ;)

Well said. Also i have little doubt we'll beat them, the team we have now is superior to the one back then and are in form. They aren't going to fade away due to a tackle or two.

Carling Cup trophy here we come.
