Looks like another American will be joining the EPL :)
1304: Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier has revealed US midfielder Michael Bradley is undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed loan deal from Borussia Monchengladbach, with a view to a permanent move.

Looks like Arsenal are in TDD news.

1419: To all you Arsenal fans who thought you wouldn't get a mention on transfer deadline day, you were wrong. Are you ready for this? BBC Lincolnshire report that 20-year-old Gunners defender Gavin Hoyte has extended his loan deal at Lincoln until the end of the season. You can pick yourselves up off the floor now...

:p

So, a £30m bid from Liverpool for Carroll, with rumours now circulating of an improved offer. Bearing in mind he's currently injured and out for a while, that's a strong bid considering David Villa only cost Barca about €40m

35 million squid for Andy Carroll? wtf? I suppose everyone was agog when Kenny Kev signed Shearer for a staggering sum too... All depending on Chelsea coughing up the 50 million first though.

All happening at Lincoln - a defender, a midfielder and a striker all done today. I'll have one of those, one of those and one of these, thanks, how much is that, cheers.

I can only presume the Torres deal is as good as done if Liverpool have already bid £30m for him. Of course, Carroll and Torres up front, that would be interesting :)

Two free agents and a loan deal so £0. :)

Yep, none of this insane transfer fee nonsense for the Imps! :D

So Carroll 35m and Suarez 23m for a total of £58m, so Liverpool's out of pocket only £8m. The 35m for Carroll's a bit crazy I think, but like I said they said the same about Shearer so that's got Kenny's signature all over it, somehow he is able to convince boards to bet the farm on a striker. EDIT - Error, my memory failed me, it was Keegan who signed Shearer for a staggering sum, Kenny just inherited him.

And also, £58m for Carroll and Suarez as Liverpool's new strike partnership is 100% not a 'caretaker manager' player purchase. It's definitely Kenny's planning to stay long term.

Addendum - Holloway may be an okay manager but he's an eejit otherwise. Publicly saying they are not returning Liverpool's phone calls leaves Adam open to suing Blackpool. Anyway, the BBC site is saying the odds have suddenly shortened for him going to Man Utd instead now.

£35m for an injured Carroll? even if it is largely coming out of Romanski's pocket that is still insane! Thats more than Tevez, Dzeko, Suarez, Villa & Berbatov!

Also why are Liverpool focusing on strikers? they need another creative midfielder, two wingers and a defender IMHO.

£35m for Carroll? I guess nobody's laughing about Darren Bent's deal anymore. Crazy business, especially when their squad has so many other needs as you say.

Charlie Adam to United? Hmm. He would go from being The Man to just another squad player, albeit one who decidedly would strengthen United's midfield. He'd definitely jump ahead of Gibson and Carrick in the pecking order on current form. United have been so poor at set pieces for a while, his deliveries would be a big upgrade there.

Phil McNulty claims on his twitter feed that West Ham were offered Carroll for just £1 million in the summer of 2009 but then assistant Steve Clarke didn't rate him so they turned it down.

Irony is Clarke was Dalglish's first appointment as assistant at Liverpool three weeks ago, so I wonder if Clarke rates Carroll now then?

So it seems not only did Clarke leave the Hammers in a bit of a mess by turning down a player that could have turned things around, he also cost them £34 million a year later. I hope he brings better luck at Anfield.

It appears to be, just the lawyers dotting the t's on the personal terms - £150,000 a week plus £2million a year in 'image rights' - and he's apparently undergoing a medical at Stamford Bridge as we type. He's gone.

1630: DONE DEAL: Hull City have signed 19-year-old Manchester United striker Cameron Stewart for an undisclosed fee following a successful loan spell.

Can't have been that successful, otherwise he'd have gone back to Man U ;)

Well, it's rumoured the only thing stalling Torres' move to Chelsea is his contract negotiations over image rights

Undisclosed? We handed over £300,000 for the lad if my 'sources' are to be believed. ;)

Good to see him signed up, the word is we're also trying to get Corry Evans signed permanently too.

Ashbee has gone too, to Preston as expected. We play them on the 12th so we'll be welcoming back Brown, Horton and our long-serving captain.

1652: Wow. A twist in the Andy Carroll saga - and it's a biggie - despite reports earlier that Newcastle had accepted a Liverpool bid for the 22-year-old striker (see 1513), it seems they actually rejected the Reds' second offer too. Just SIX HOURS of the transfer window left for the two clubs to work that one out - and how much does it rely on Fernando Torres completing his move to Chelsea too. We will find out, soon enough...

Wow, either Newcastle clearly just don't want to sell him (in which case why not come out and say that) or they believe he's worth more than the £35m Liverpool have reportedly bid (or they're just hoping to get more as they know Liverpool are expecting £50m)

Edit: A further update:
1704: Yep, the BBC has just had confirmation that Newcastle did reject Liverpool's second bid of £35m for Andy Carroll. BUT we understand that will not be the end of the matter... If and when a third bid is made, we will let you know. Carroll is apparently keen on the move, remember.

...

He can pass, he can't tackle, and being Scottish, he probably has a ginger wig. Not saying he is as good as Sat-Nav, but he is that sort of player.

By Jaffa Cake - "...Good to see him signed up, the word is we're also trying to get Corry Evans signed permanently too..."

Hands off!

Carroll - Newcastle United should ask GBP 51 million.

Cheers,
OW

Newcastle rejected the second (£35m) bid but have subsequently albeit reluctantly, accepted Carroll's transfer request. So I guess that's it.

Edit: In another Liverpool transfer news, Adam is supposedly in a car on his way to Merseyside.

Indeed it is. Wonder what the final figure is...

Doesn't give Newcastle much time to find a replacement either

Well, it seems Rio Ferdinand agree's with our sentiments over the price of Andy Carroll
from Rio Ferdinand on Twitter: "David Villa cost £34m... an integral member of successful Spain team and played regular Champions League... UK market is crazy right now!"

Presumably that's a different Rio Ferdinand that cost Man U £30m back in 2002, smashing the domestic transfer record and becoming the worlds most expensive defender...

The Reds have signed 17-year-old midfielder Conor Thomas from Coventry on loan until the end of the season.

This is an odd move. Why would Liverpool want a 17 year old on loan just to the end of the season?

What's this? Holloway gets a cut of any transfer fee for Adam? When did managers start getting percentages of transfers? George Graham got done for taking his cut in brown paper bags, but now it's okay?

Been a good January for Liverpool I think - Dalglish back as manager, two new world class strikers, new midfielder (two if you count Junior). And so far, Torres hasn't actually left yet. Imagine Torres, Suarez and Carroll in a starting lineup, or rotate two on one off.
