Hey I was thinking of either getting the 13in. or the 15in. Macbook Pro right before I leave for college. But I was wondering if both laptops have enough vRAM to run Starcraft 2(probably the only computer game I would be playing) with a 24inch external display(1920 x 1080 res) and run it smoothly with at least graphics on medium? Thanks in advance for replies.

On 1080p 24" screen. The 330m with the 512mb of vram on the higher end 15" might be able to.

If gaming is that important to you though I would suggest looking into the iMac or even not getting a mac.

You'd have to keep textures down to high, and not ultra. Altho if you're in windows, you can get away with ultra using only 512vram.

Other settings will have to be played on medium.

If you are so much crazy about the game then why not you use external Nvidia graphics card and 1 GB ram. This way you will enjoy the true graphics of the game.

If I were you I'd buy the white MacBook and build yourself a cheap $400 PC that will blow any MacBook out of the water for games. You aren't going to be able to play the game well in that resolution on a 330m, at least not in OS X.

Don't be fooled, even on low the game looks very good! I would expect a Macbook to be able to at least run it on Medium, which is very playable.

If you are that worried, just wait a few days until the game comes out and ask here again. Judging by all the SC2 topics that have popped up someone is bound to try it on the 13" and 15" Pros.

Played the SC2 beta on 2010 13" C2D 2.4ghz MBP, works fine on medium, with a few FPS drops here and there but nothing too noticeable.

Returned that unit and bought the 15" Core i7 MBP, works fine on ultra.
