So, with TB moving across the whole line, how long before we can buy a (Data | Display) splitter for TB so that people using the new systems can use external displays and the data connection at the same time without the PITA of daily chaining? Hope before I buy a new system :/
wow thats pretty cool with the option of the trackpad. I think its a must on any iMac. I couldn't live without it.![]()
I'm thinking of a 3-monitor gaming/sim setup. No desk - think cockpit.
The 21.5" has thunderbolt too....does that mean you can use it as an external display as well?![]()
When? Well, ACD has supported thunderbolt since day one.So when is the ACD gonna support thunderbolt?
Personally I'm a huge fan of daisy chaining. Less devices, less cables, less clutter. You just attach each device to the next.
What is it you have an aversion to?
I've just finish chatting with a person on the apple website. She told me that I can use the new imac (21 and 27") thunderbold input to use the imac as an external display. Only if it comes from a thunderbolt output (like an macbook pro for exemple).
The trackpad option is awesome. Every bundled Apple mouse I've gotten for the past 15 years has gone straight in the trash. The only good mouse Apple ever made was the ADB II. At least now I get a free trackpad to play with! Cool!

Dual ports should have been on the notebooks as well.
Haha Ill make roomWho has room for two external displays on a desk that already has a 27" iMac?! Dual outs on the MBP would make much more sense, although achieving it may be more of a technical challenge in terms of GPU power.
ETA: Of course, having an external display connected directly and using the other ThunderBolt port for non-display ThunderBolt devices makes much sense, especially seeing as ThunderBolt devices can't be daisy-chained after a display. So I'm not saying the two ports don't make sense.
I've heard about stuff from Pegasus (storage), Promise (storage), Matrox (video), LaCie (storage).
Two high end screens from dual thunderbolt on a 27 inch iMac? Wow. That is bad ass.
SATA III? And if so on all of them or is optical still II like the laptops?
