2011 Mac Book Pro 13" - predictions?

Why in gods name would you not want a optical drive?!?! I use mine every day. If you dont want one buy a macbook air.

(I apologize for continuing this discussion; just thought I should explain my reasoning)

I see the 13" "pro" targeted at the "lower" end of apple's consumer. (college kids, lucky high school kids, young professionals) When it comes down to it, with myself soon fitting in to that demographic (attending college soon) I would love to see the extra space better utilized for something such as more battery life or increased/dual ssd space. Whether the computer fits the "pro" moniker or not is a moot point, being a 13" machine limits it to a specific crowd, and I feel that crowd would better utilize the space as compared to a disc drive.

besides hardware predictions inside, anyone monitoring the refurbished/ clearance sites of apple online store. There are no macbooks on the store, and the macbook pro section shows 3 on top with red text for good prices. Perhaps inventory is slowly lowering in quantities.

i thinks its a rather safe bet that no ipad 2 announcement/ availability will come before valentines day. 1 because of the many rumors still about screen res, cameras etc.. more concrete info would come immediately before apple info. 2nd, the valentines day promotion on their home page, why talk about ipad 2 now just to discourage sales for the holiday?

looks like macbook/ macbook pro , won't have an event like the 2008 october event. could be, but doubt it. however, an update before the 12month mark i i firmly believe, never has apple gone that long on macbook, macbook pro. Also, suppliers are being leaky on all the i device components, seems apple is doing good holding down the fort for 2011 laptops.

The 13" is a perfectly viable machine for audio professionals, most of which frequently use the optical drive. So it's not just lucky highschoolers or other young people taking advantage of the reasonable price point and extreme portability.
