Thanks for the info, i read your earlier posts, seems quite the same situation. I hope i'll get a mail too soon.

Can't wait :D

Mine got cancelled too. Then I called Apple and order was changed back to estimated shipping of 15th. It shipped on 7th and is now in Netherlands.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA and my Mac is currently in Memphis as well.

That flight seems to be the most logical to get it closer to me. JFK tonight, Pittsburgh tomorrow, My house by Tuesday. Well lets hope anyways.

BTW that flightaware.com is an awesome website. I had no idea there were that many planes in the air at one time. Kinda scary actually.

Could someone who is skilled at using the FlightAware site help me figure out when the next FedEx flight out of Shanghai is? I've tried looking through Shanghai departures and PANC arrivals and no luck!!

My order has been on "Prepared for Shipment" for 36 hours now...

The same order and delivery dates as mine. The Canada Apple store now says 1-2 weeks for the same BTO that I ordered and yet I still have another 4 weeks before mine even ships. It's tempting to cancel and re-order, just to get my iMac quicker.

mine is the same - but i wouldn't trust those dates. there is a lot of reshuffling happening at the backend ERP system to get the production orders sorted out (i don't work for apple, i just know the system they use). i'm betting we'll have a mass date shift this week.

Just a reminder to those who receive their 27-inch SSD iMacs on the 13th or 14th, please post screenshots of your System Profiler information. If there are different parts, we absolutely want to know.

i'm betting it was never the SSD, but rather something stupid like the SSD bracket that didn't fit. :)

I looked on a few sites and don't see any FedEx flights scheduled for Monday or Tuesday. It is 5am Monday in Shanghai right now.

Both of my BTO macs were shipped over the weekend, Fri, Sat via FedEx.
Maybe yours is coming UPS?

Hang in there :)

Even then, it instantly eliminates the rumors that there might be different SSDs.

I want these rumors ended. And my iMac to ship. And a puppy, well, no, TWO puppies. And... a memory managed language to replace Objective-C and have first-class API support to be announced by Apple and given a roadmap.

According to FedEx, my iMac has "Departed FedEx Location" (Memphis, TN) as of 3:16pm CDT. I live in northern Cincinnati, and according to flightaware.com, there's a FedEx flight that left Memphis at 3:15pm CDT that's scheduled to arrive in Cincinnati (CVG) at 5:12pm CDT. By tracking my iMac on the FedEx website, I'll know in a few hours if this actually happened, and if my iMac happens to make it to the FedEx distribution hub this evening (and I suspect that it will) it's almost a sure thing that I'll receive it tomorrow. I just so happen to be off work tomorrow, so here's hoping!!

That is most definitely your flight, scheduled 3:15, actual 3:16

Good Luck! :D

Not wanting to veer off-topic too much but did you see the Automatic Reference Counting on the iOS5 page.

Also means no more dealloc. We are getting there, one step at a time.
I wrote a massive rebuttal to such a suggestion on Hacker News. ARC is not a solution (does not cover a lot of cases), is only a minor convenience at best, and overall is not performant. OS X still needs a proper memory managed language (ideally with a copying and compacting generational GC) on it's roadmap. You can't glom this stuff on to Objective-C.

Mine shipped via FedEx sometime on Saturday morning, and it appears to still be in Shanghai. I have "Left FedEx origin facility" at 3:31pm on the 11th, "At local FedEx facility" at 8:52am the 12th, and "In transit" at both 12:28am and 5:53am the 13th (all "local scan time" according to FedEx), all giving Shanghai as the location.

I was hoping it'd be somewhere in the US by now.

Potentially FedEx might also have some space on cargo planes they don't operate, so it wouldn't look like a FedEx flight; for example, http://flightaware.com/live/flight/CAO1051 is an Air China Cargo flight to Anchorage. I don't know anything about shipping logistics, but it seems feasible that cargo companies would subcontract to each other as needed. Or maybe it doesn't work that way and my iMac will sit in Shanghai for another day or two, or maybe something weird happened with the tracking and it's out of Shanghai already.

Ugh literally the only flight out of Shanghai (FedEx or UPS) between now and Tuesday is:

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS85

If I don't get a tracking number by the time that flight leaves, I doubt I'll see my computer this week. Still sitting at Prepared for Shipment.

It's currently 7:23am June 13 in Shanghai, so shouldn't that flight have left already? It looks like it was scheduled at least to leave at 3:25am.

Given that time difference though you could pretty easily have a flight leaving Shanghai on Thursday (Shanghai time) that would get your iMac to you by Friday (your local time).

My iMac SSD Journey so far...

I ordered my iMac on the 29th May.
Estimated Delivery Date was 7th July.
It then got delayed to 20th July. (boo)
I then got an email saying it's been Shipped on Saturday 12th June! (yay)
Estimated Delivery Date is 19th June. (woo)

I ordered an iMac 27" 3.4GHz Quad Core i7, 4GB RAM, 1TB+256GB SSD, AMD Radeon 2GB, Magic TrackPad, Battery Charger, AppleCare & a HP AIO Printer.

I live in England.

Being delivered by Syncreon Technology (Who are they, why no tracking number?) anybody had a delivery with these guys before?

Not far now people! I'm excited to set this bad boy up! Portal 2 is going to be awesome!

Yeah good point. I found it under "scheduled departures" rather than departures, so I figured it hadn't left yet, but you're right about the times.

I hope that other poster is correct about FedEx subcontracting with other carriers though, as that would open up many more flight possibilities.

I guess you're right though, a Wed./Thurs. flight from Shanghai could potentially still make it to me by Fri.

Cheers! It's really nice seeing everyone else around here obsessing over their iMacs... Makes me feel not quite as insane. ;)

My flight has landed and my iMac is now on its way to its destination sort facility. Based on the last Apple item that was shipped directly from China (my iPad 2), when the item is at this step in the shipment process, it should be delivered the following day. In other words, I should be getting my iMac tomorrow. I don't expect any more tracking updates tonight but things should get going again tomorrow morning.
