A quick tour of Memphis, maybe a potential Elvis sighting and we need to get back on the road...

It looks like a lot of peeps get there iMac on the 14th. Europe and US.

Sure does :D

I confess to being very blooming excited right now ... Only 24hours... I've agreed with IT that I can stick it on the Firm WiFi ...

I don't think I've anticipated something so eagerly!

What to do first?

On the basis that some of us will be getting our Mac Beasties in the next day or two ...

What are the first things you intend to do on it?

just ordered the 21.5" i5 2 Tb HDD + SSD on Friday and shipped the next day (yesterday)

i would expect it on Tuesday

Open the box it came in :D

Sorry couldnt resist.

Most likely reconfigue it so that the user's data in on the hdd. From there it will be benchmarking.

:D ... I don't know whether I should unpack it ...

I was wondering that ... When's best to run benchmarking? Before or after migration? Someone mentioned a different benchmarker ... Anyone any suggestions (easy ones as I'm no tech!)

sweet. ordered mine 05/25, due 07/14 - lets see if the time moves up. order status page currently down for maintenance.

The same order and delivery dates as mine. The Canada Apple store now says 1-2 weeks for the same BTO that I ordered and yet I still have another 4 weeks before mine even ships. It's tempting to cancel and re-order, just to get my iMac quicker.

I'm in no place to guarantee ... But it would seem unlikely that a BTO placed now will arrive before a BTO previous.

I suspect everyone with orders placed will see shifts in dates over the next week just like the launch day early adopters have.

I'd hang in there (even though I know how tempting it must be!) :D

Unbox
Backup with CCC
System profiler to see what's inside
Side by side boot comparison with my late 2009 2.8 i7 iMac
Install 16GB RAM
Enjoy :D

Wait for all the external TB enclosures to be released

Awesome!

My plan:
- unbox
- stick additional RAM in whilst the covers still on!
- boot - sys profile ; geekbench ; aja sys (to compare with MBP)
- Share results on here!
- MAS downloads & Migration Assistant

Very nervous about migration assistant though as don't want to transfer any crud from MBP??

been following this thread for a while, getting excited now :)

ordered on the 23rd May and it shipped 11th June! meant to be here(england) this wednesday the 15th!

I've always avoided any migration, prefer to start fresh and rule out any potential errors being introduced.

Then again, many of us will be starting completely fresh once Lion is released from the cage! Maybe it's time for me to give the migration assistant a little try...

Welcome ... :D

The things that I am interested in really are:

iTunes Library & Aperture Libraries
Keychain ... but I am guessing that will come over with MobileMe
Certain Apps that are not from the MAS

But I guess I can just manage that transfer slowly to keep it as clean as possible.

I've gotta put a BootCamp partition in anyway for Windows7

I am still waiting patiently. I ordered May 9th and still hasn't shipped yet. I just says Prepared for Shipment. I am still not sure how iMacs ordered after mine are getting shipped before me. I wonder how Apple decides who gets sent first. I guess it is not first in, first out. I could be configuration, but I noticed someone with a date after mine had the same configuration. The only thing I can think it would be is where you are from. I am curious on those who's iMacs have already shipped, what country you are from and where in that country. For me, I live in the United States and live in Connecticut.
