After a long weekend I went to bed during the third quarter because I just couldn't keep my eyes open. Never fall asleep on a Manning!

About 10 years ago on MNF the Colts were playing in Tampa Bay and down by 21 with like 5 minutes left. Pretty much everyone in Indiana went to bed at that point and missed Manning leading the Colts to victory.

The following week the Bucs went to DC and beat the Skins by 21. When interviewed after the game coach Gruden said he'd never been more uncomfortable with a 21 point lead in his whole career!

Back to football as there was a bit of a distraction with Giants in SF :)

The 49ers will not have any issues of whether Alex Smith can be a good QB. 18 of 19 for 3 TDs and the team near the top of ESPN power rankings. Of course, the defense is solid, too. If this keeps up we will have to keep the parade barricades up on Market Street to welcome the city's other team to the key to the city.

New England Patriots acquire Tampa Bay CB Aqib Talib

ESPN said:
Talib was the 20th overall pick in the 2008 draft and was one of Tampa Bay's top defenders with 18 career interceptions.

Talib's current suspension is his second of his NFL career.

The 26-year-old was suspended without pay for the 2010 regular-season opener and also fined one additional game check for violating the NFL's personal-conduct policy. That discipline stemmed from an altercation with a St. Petersburg cab driver during training camp in August 2009.

A living, breathing trade. The Bucs' return compensation is unknown at this point, but it's a power move from the Pats, and further house cleaning from hard-nosed Bucs coach Greg Schiano. Currently on the last week of a four-game suspension for violating the league's PED policy, Talib is in the midst of a solid season despite getting absolutely throttled by Hakeem Nicks in Week 2. A free agent at season's end, Talib's off-the-field issues are well-documented, but he's still only 26 years old, and has shutdown-corner upside. He should vastly improve what's been one of the league's worst secondaries each of the past two seasons."

Yesssssss. Seems to be a knucklehead and has one more game in his suspension, but I am positive he's better than what we have, and this means McCourty can stay at safety. I hope he'll be a Corey Dillon more than an Albert Haynesworth. We'll see. Glad they've done something, though.

Blah, Blah, Blah....;)

In important news, the Jets did not trade Tim Tebow. So as a Jets fan I am sentenced to 8 more weeks of hearing about him.

Unlike you and most of America and the disdain for Rev.Tebow, religious gestures can welcome if the guy flashing his faith actually wins (like our so-called "religious" Brian Wilson of the SF Giants). Our town is decidedly non-religious, but when Wilson is on the field and good things happen and fans don't care if he's Amish or the Taliban.

Tebow made a great play to end the Steelers season as a Bronco but he will have to prove himself as a Jet. As long as you have him, he will bring news to your team, whether it's positive or negative. I would think that so much attention to any one player can be a distraction in any sport.

Sunday night
Falcons
Cowboys

Should be a fun game

I am not naive enough to believe the Falcons will go undefeated
But they are playing pretty well and are having a good run

I think you will do well but the Cowboys can't choke forever with the talent they have.

Though I want my team to do well (Niners), it would be nice to see you guys win 16 this season. All cylinders are clicking! But so much of the talent in recent years is and has been in the NFC so nobody will fly through that unscathed come postseason.

He can't possibly be worse than Arrington, so it's automatically a good thing. The guy does have some off field issues (a couple fights, seems like he's a bit of a hot head) but it's not like he's a murderer or dog killer. We've got strong leadership on this defense with Wilfork and Mayo so I'm not worried about that. Since he was a 1st rounder, this guy clearly has talent, so we'll see if he can put it together. Good move though.

We'll probably see McCourty back at DB when Gregory and Chung get back from injury, though. But Talib/McCourty/Dennard hopefully can be at least a servicable defensive back trio. The less snaps Arrington sees the better.

Blame Rex Ryan for a lot of things, but getting Tim Tebow was all upper management. If Rex Ryan really wanted him, he would be using him. His hands are tied.

you've misunderstood me ... he is an idiot no matter what. i didn't mean to imply he had anything to do with tebow deal.

bottom line: yer team, imvho, sucks and he is a dope. and i know about teams that suck 'cos i'm a raider fan. ;)

I don't disagree - however, I think the blame can be spread around equally. He was an idiot when he was hired, but he did take them to 2 straight Eastern Conference Finals.

The team isn't that good and upper management hasn't done him any favors with the personnel they have brought in. He's probably going to be a sacrificial lamb, but this isn't all in him. Idiot or not.

fair point.

and that is what is really curious about the jets. i think they can be good, very good even, but it never eems to come out on the field on a consistent basis.

on the bright side you guys have one of the best uniforms in the NFL(except when wearing green pants...)

it's refreshing to see someone online who isn't a cowboys, patriots or giants fan. cheers and good luck to you guys.

I am hoping, a very slim hope, but hope none the less that we beat you guys. As long as Tony doesn't throw 452 interceptions during the game we should be ok! :D

Right now, our defense just isn't good enough to make up for a bad offense. No run game - no pass game. They have put some good series together this year but the inconsistency has been extremely hard to watch.

Our run game isn't even comparable to what we were doing the two years Sanchez took the team to the AFC Championship. And Sanchez isn't good enough, and doesn't have good enough weapons, to carry the team. This is supposed to be a ground and pound team - but we have a subpar ground game. So all we're left with is that we get pounded. :p

Falcons :)
Swept the AFC West
Only the NYG remain for a sweep of the NFC East ;)

They may not be winning impressively, but style points are for college
Just win baby

They beat a desperate Eagles team
And now they beat an even more desperate Cowboys team
The game was far bigger and more important to the Cowboys
But the Falcons moved the ball when it counted

Still don't expect to go undefeated, but 8-0 is pretty nice

Remaining schedule, and could be favored in every game:

@ Saints
Cardinals
@ Bucs
Saints
@ Panthers
Giants
@ Lions
Bucs

I think @Bucs could be first loss, they are playing better
Giants are always tough, especially at that time of year
Lions game could be interesting as well

All this just to lose in the first round of the playoffs. Atlanta is one of those teams that are amazing in the regular season only to break their fans hearts in the post-season. Despite their unbeaten record there are several NFC teams that I think can easily take care of them in a playoff game... Home or on the Road, it doesn't matter

is the Phil o-line really this bad?

the only tough game I see for them is the Giants, and that will depend on which Giants team shows up. They could go undefeated or 15-1 but be careful what you wish for (my Packers last year)

I really like the dirty birds this year. I think Julio and Roddy are the best WR combo in the NFL. The big question is can Turner and Rodgers keep the run game going.

Ug..... pains me, but good game. That "F" team :D needed the plays when they mattered most and were able to capitalize on it. Only redeeming factor of for me, is one of your best WR is a tide alumni. Roll Tide! :D

Things are iffy with Alex Smith taking cumulative injury from big hits (two at least), but with other teams losing starting QBs for a game or more, it's anybody's guess how this will play out. That tie was not what most expected and their #4 in power rankings can only go down if we don't get out QB back. Our defense seems to show holes, too and doesn't appear to the be the same as last year.

The Texans look strong and only need to stay healthy unlike SF, Steelers, Eagles, and a few other teams. Atlanta is still tough, too.
