I believe there's no longer hexcore MP as of June 2012? It's either quad MP or dual hex MP now.
But yeah, I agree with building a PC being more reasonable/sensible choice nowadays. Apple just don't do a proper desktop anymore. People need to admit that.

Would do the same in the next 2 years or so. Unless Apple really come with a truly new MacPro.
But I hope they could do something about the price. For $2500 they should give us a hexcore CPU as minimum, not quadcore outdated Xeon crap.

new hexcore is a BTO price = 2999 see thumbnail.

it actually is somewhat insulting as a price.

you can get 2 mac minis and my diy build for the same price. allows you very powerful windows. and okay apple..

you can get a refurbished i5 imac 2011 and the diy pc for 3200.

both machine have the t-bolt hookup allows for fast file transfer great windows in the pc and good windows + good osx in the imac.

or an ipad + mac mini and the diy pc.

pretty much it is as if apple wants you to buy a pc.

I am only describing diy single cpu pcs not event talking about dual cpus.

but why settle for second best....don't you realise that the 'my pc spec's are better than yours' is the reason we dumped the PC with its **** windows OS for something which is a 1000 times better!!! is the hackintosh quiet? no.....does it look good? no.......is it just a bundle of parts thrown together? yes......

in short there is nothing good about it other than the ability to run OSX....which could be broken in the future......also resale value is crap so why bother.......I bet you're one of these people who looks at a guy driving a ferrari and says 'but my hyundi has a better subwoofer'......you miss the point entirely, and like the 1000s of other windows fools will never get why we buy the real thing....the experience....

Ha, I pity you, I really do. You've swallowed the advertising hook, line, and sinker.

It's about what you DO with the computer, not the computer itself. Whatever corporate brand may or may not be slapped on it, at the end of the day a computer is just a tool.

This topic makes me sick to my stomach. Hackintosh' are for PC users who want to tell people they own a Mac.

You are an unbelievable *******. 0/10 and I won't even bother hypothesizing how little you think of yourself that you have your entire self-image tied up into the computers you own.

I have an iMac, just like yours sans the SSD. It was great machine but it has its own problem. Thin and hot is not supposed to be tied together. Having a decent spec, I use it intensively and torture it as much. Ended up display and HDD got replaced within the first year.
Thanks for a great quality hardware.

never had a problem with any of the 3 I have owned over the years (starting form the G5).....just keep it in a well ventilated area and not a problem....sure it can get hot but still no issues....i guess you were in the unlucky 1% failure rate.

So then I want a MacPro with Sandy Bridge E CPU and GTX680 series which actually works and reliably take a heavy stress. Not just a sexy tight embodiment with built in LCD.

Oh wait ... that's right, Apple don't give a rat ass about MacPro! The most reliable and only viable solution for desktop is the most moronic Mac out there! No Thunderbolt, no USB3.0, no proper spec bump.
And most importantly it costs the same as 2 years ago. Would you buy that shiny box?

yes the lack of a MP update was disappointing, and I guess apple have their reasons, but if I wanted a very stable powerful computer for work then yes I would buy a current model.....I put no faith in a hackintosh, ok they maybe more stable than they were but run a business on it? if a component fails or is causing issues good luck getting support on it.....in short its an enthusiasts PC.

Being a Mac fan is one thing, but spending money on the right hardware at the right time would make a lot of sense.
So excuse some of us for being a bit smarter, wiser and build our own blasphemy ugly cursed hckintosh.

no problem, now go and put the curtain back over that piece of junk you just built or I will give to 5 dollars on ebay for it just to set fire to it....

Yes it is a tool, but I'd rather have a quiet, well designed, fully supported and stable tool than that k-mart crap you're peddling......jeez i bet you'll tell me MS are a reputable company next, never mind that they set the IT industry back 20 years with that bloatware crap most people call an OS these days....

You make me sick to my ovaries

I have a hackintosh because when I was in school I needed as much power for as cheap as possible for rendering and modeling. Now I just keep it around because I love tinkering with both the hardware and software. I built it into a G5 tower which was a process that took a couple months of careful fitting and fabricating. Hackintoshing is just fun. Some people on here need to get over themselves.

My wife and I own pretty much the full spectrum of apple products and love them but it's fun to have hobbies too!

thanks for that! I am so close to jumping to a PC. I am not sure if I would go hakintosh as I don't really care that much for operating systems anymore. Jesus, to think I used to be so anti pc. I guess anti is relative and now Apple is slacking off PC doesn't seem so bad after all. I see people saying they are waiting until October. I am going to wait until the start of September before I make a purchase.

I'm with you on this. Windows has narrowed the gap lately... or is it Apple has given some of it up? Anyway, there isn't as much difference nowadays between the two on the software side. If Apple keeps letting down desktop users I'll have no problem keeping my mobile tech Apple and my workhorse PC.
