Since refurbs cost me tax (almost 10% in WA). B&H and usually macmall can normally get me the same product new for pretty much the same price!

That is nice. And your point is?

Use taxes are generally completely the same as sales tax. AKA you still owe it. You don't want to counsel people they'll save money by committing a crime right?

I never stated anything about committing a crime. I also don't think the internet is the best place to get tax advice. Btw, many on here live in states with out sales tax. So a member's obligation to their state is between them and their state.

Guess you have sent a check to your state for every item you ever bought off the internet (online store, eBay or Craigslist)?

The fact that the 2012 are already in the refurb store might say something.

A lot of minis got returned because of the HDMI issue. They are otherwise perfectly good computers. The firmware update seems to have resolved many of the HDMI issues people were having.

While I don't see the mini out at WWDC, it would be great if they announced the 2013 ones in July or August. The fact that the 2012 are already in the refurb store might say something.

It is a bit slow to have them. First refurbs on mac products show in 30 to 40 days. These were more then 65 days . Oct 23 to Jan 1.

My guess would be that held the refubs until after Christmas season in order to protect their sales of new ones.

My guess is apple wanted the extra cash and to keep refurb sales off the 2012 books. Two birds with 1 stone.

Ah my fault. I thought they appeared a few months after. I didn't realize it was 30-40 days. The HDMI issue was most likely it.

So they are up again, this time saying shipping in 1-3 business days. But my order from yesterday still says shipping in 30 days. Argh. Apple said to "wait until the order processes, then call us back". If it were a couple days I wouldn't care, but nearly two-months is a big deal.

Wow! mine shipped today so much for a 30 business day wait.

I will set this up when it get to me. Jan 9th west coast to east coast with slow shipping. But I can live with this.

I will sell my dual core with 8gb ram on the bay.

This machine will be a true beast diy 1.6 tb fusion .

I have a 600gb intel ssd

plus 16gb ram

an absolute monster.

Bahh you're lucky. Mine still sitting at 49 days until delivery. Called Apple again to ask what was up and they told me "just cancel and order another one!" But it's not in stock "OH! well you just have to wait until they come back to the store because we can't do anything about it" Piss poor customer service (though quite polite) but I guess I wait and hopefully it ships sooner.

How is that "piss poor" customer service? The person on the other end of the line can't pull a Mac mini from out of their butt to ship to you. They are limited by the same inventory information that you were provided with. That it would ship in 30 business days.

I would be annoyed if I were you.

I think they sold it to me because;

1)I order 25 to 30 minis a year from the refurb store.

2) First come first serve my order was placed ABOUT 3:40 PM East coast time Jan 1st 2012

Just hang in there you are most likely on the next set that come in.

Well usually the item drops off the list really fast. You can't order and wait 30 business days. Very rare for this to happen. As for bad service if you used a gift card that is now frozen if you cancel you are screwed and waiting 30 business days with frozen funds is tough to do.

I buy many minis and to be able to buy and wait 30 business days has happened on refurbs 2 or 3 out of 100 times. MY guess is they had a glitch due to the date change 2012 to 2013. I could look at my old orders but I would be willing to say this happened to me 2011 dec to 2012 Jan.

This stopped the mini from dropping off the list and just reading out of stock.

see here is a refurb and it is just out of stock you can not order it and wait 30 days to get it. BTW I would buy 2 of these right now if I could. This is still a good htpc and a dvr with eye tv.

Because when I tried to CANCEL my order and order the "shipping in 1-3 business days" units they had, I couldn't do so. Then they went out of stock, leaving me waiting longer for something I ordered a day before many others. Especially when CS tells me its likely an ordering system issue where it told me 30 days so it won't allocate me a unit until next month (though frankly that seems odd).

I'm not expecting them to magically make find me a unit, but their "Sorry, its the computers fault!" reply twice now is annoying. Amazon gave me free next-day shipping when I ordered something that said "In Stock" but they had less than they expected so when stock arrived I got it next day. At least some kind of token "sorry about this" goes a long way.

Why didn't you just order the 1-3 business day one in addition to the 30 business day one, then cancel the 30 business day one once the order was processed? That is what I did. Remember, Apple doesn't charge your credit card until the item ships.

Btw, did you return your base mini yet?

Maybe it is semantics, but Apple never said the mac mini was ready to ship. They stated clearly it would take 30 business days for the mini to ship. So you ordered knowing that. You even stated in a previous post:

30 day shipping time is r-o-u-g-h though. Long wait ahead if it's true... Though I don't see why they would put them up for order if they are a month away?

If it really does take 30 business days, you knew that from the onset. If it takes less (which it hopefully should for you), you end up happy that it only takes a few business days to ship. But you knew it might take 30 business days. It wasn't like Apple left that info from the order only to be cryptic and send you an email after the order was placed.

Sure you can wait 30 days. That is nothing new for Apple. When inventory is low and demand is high, Apple always has long wait out periods. Look at the new 27" iMac. All it says for shipping is January. Even the iPhone's and iPad's have had shipping estimates of 2,3,4 weeks when first released and inventory was low and there was a high demand. That is nothing new.

If Apple placed the refurb '12 mini i7 on the refurb section with "coming soon" people would start complaining about not knowing when they could order or not having the opportunity to order. People are able to complain about anything.

Apple was clear regarding the estimated shipping time. If you weren't happy with the timing, or couldn't wait that long, you didn't need to buy it. Apple didn't force you.

I don't have room to put two computers on my Visa, only have a poor-students $1000 ceiling on it. And Apple did put a hold or check or something on it since I can't even put a $10 purchase on it (well, I couldn't on Wednesday, haven't tried today).

And yes, I can wait the 30 days and was prepared to do so from the onset. It's just annoying, very annoying, that the SAME ITEM was available the next day shipping right away but it didn't shift mine despite ordering it earlier. Even more so because I told them while it was still in stock what was up and they couldn't do anything about it. Same situation as waiting in a huge line at the grocery store then the next lane opens and people sprint over to it and gets served first. Most stores (around here at least, maybe just because we're polite Canadians) invite the people waiting longest to move into the new lane.

But alas I'll stop whining. I'll end up cancelling this one once they pop back up in a next few weeks and reordering. I did return the base mini no problems which was a relief. I should just not be cheap and go pay full price :p

Not sure about your Visa card, but my AE I could go online and see if they would approve a purchase above my credit limit. Never had them say no.

Just for a future reference, it might be worth calling your CC company and just see if they will approve a purchase above your limit. Worse case is they say no.

I know it sucks to wait, but the wait will be worth it. ;)

Just ordered my 2.6 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, Fusion Drive mini on Monday. Shipped this morning. Should be here by the 8th of Jan. Already ordered and waiting on my 16GB of RAM from Newegg to arrive. Can't wait to replace my Win7 Laptop (4-5 yrs old) with this new quad-core mini. Looking for some night performance increase over my current setup. It takes a lifetime for my laptop to add a simple Genre to a movie when I import it into iTunes.

Damn I was about to order from B & H and the free shipping option vanishes for living in Hawaii :( I love this place, but I hate trying to order stuff online. Amazon Prime it is!

Looks like there is a delay with my order being shipped. Mine was originally suppose to be delivered Jan 8-9th, now pushed back to 15-17th.

Got an email from Apple stating my refurb 2.3 i7 shipped today and is expected for arrival this Friday (1/11). Something must be up with their inventory as it was suppose to be the 8-9th then got email saying there were delays and it would be 15-17th. So I was surprised to get an email saying it was on its way.

refurb me can be a bit too slow. 5 to 10 minutes in the store before i get the notice in my email.

but I use it and i also click my bookmarks bar at random.. Or should I say when I fell lucky.

What would the appropriate resolution have been? What was the customer service experience you were hoping for? Produce one out of thin air? Sell you a new one as a refurb?
