I'm inclined to agree with you. The Williams and Ferrari have similar nose cone shapes--very aesthetically pleasing to my eye. I especially like how the front wing joins the Williams. It's just beautiful.
I didn't have much love for the team previously. Maldonado can be a bit of a thug. As a McLaren fan, I got tired of him and Hamilton "finding" each other on track. Is it petty to root for Williams among the mid-field simply because of their gorgeous car?
last season i also rooted for mcclaren simply because (outside of the chrome paint scheme, which i'm not a big fan of) they had the best looking car.
I definitely agree about the McLaren last year. I was very frustrated with the step-nose designs everyone else was using. I recognize that there was some time to be gained from that developmental direction, but I tend to hold to the traditional view that if a car looks fast, it probably is fast. Consequently, I'm pleased to see most of the cars using vanity nose covers this year. Too bad the Williams broke out the step-nose again today.
the ferrari actually grew on me last year.
the mcclaren was fast, but not reliable, last season. lewis might have wont the title if the car could have lasted a few laps longer.
i'm very curious about this. do you really think it is a cover or simply that they have built the nose that way? i wanna see the cover actually taken off and look at the hideous platypus nose underneath... if they don't have to have a step nose i wouldn't bother with it. lemme know if you se or hear different.
With Ross B at the helm of the Silver Arrows, I think that the team is one to watch in 2014.
The rules state it has to be a cover of certain material and construction so it will, essentially, not be in there in a crash situation.

If Ross B is there that long. There were all those rumours of him being forced out only a few weeks ago
i like the current qualifying format, and there might be a point for the 'if it ain't broken...' argument, but i was thinking about some of the qualis in the last couple of years and i think there is some room for improvement, so i concocted what, in my opinion, would be an ultimately entertaining quali session.
there would be 2 sessions: Q1 is the same as the current one, and it pares down the competitors to 16. main difference is that the times are already really important for everyone (see below) so no much space to put an half-assed effort there. maybe extend the session by a few minutes.
Q2 is a set of head-to head miniraces, of 3 laps each, with a seeded bracket (tennis-style). the seeding is determined by the Q1 times.
then you have the 1-16, 2-15, etc battles and the winner moves on to the next round. drivers eliminated in round 1 will start 9-16 based on the Q1 times
now you have the quarterfinals, with winners going on to the semis and eventually the two winner battle it out in a final round. Again, all drivers eliminated are ranked in the respective group based on the Q1 times.
In each minirace, the Q1 times determines who starts in 'pole' and who starts second.
winner gets 3WC points, runnerup 1WC point.
timewise, it wouldn't be much different. you'd have 8+4+2+1 for 15 miniraces total. 3 laps take about 5 minutes, or 75 minutes of exciting head-to-head.
it would be fantastic to watch and i am certain drivers would absolutely love it.
toughts?
i think it is great that you put that much thought into it.
i like it as is though... =(
Ross B. has recently stated that he will remain Team Principal though they have two separate design teams: one working on the 2013 car (continued development) and one working on the 2014 car (new development).
my fave.... van der garde
Agreed. That's striking. I'm not sure why the helmet designs are so busy.
How are we going to tell Hamilton and Rosberg apart?
Easy. How are we going to tell Hamilton and Rosberg apart?

Simple Hamilton has no silver band at the top around the merc badge Rosberg does oh and they use different helmet makes
Easy.
Car in front = Hamilton.
