Intrigue, politics, team play and team disputes...

Yay F1!

I started to enjoy F1 a lot more when I started to pay more attention to all of the human factors involved. I have no idea if this is intentional on F1's part, but it makes for a great study...

Interesting that Varsha was back with the "boys". I had heard that he might be able to do a couple of races. Kind of hope that SPEED/FOX let him out of his obligations and that he's back for good. Not quite sure that I like the "look"....all three in suits? Don't think anyone of the guys looked comfortable, still not sure I like all the glitz that NBC has on their set. At least NBC is covering the races live and then rebroadcasting them.

Leigh Diffey is NBCSN's IndyCar presenter so when F1 and IndyCar have events on the same weekend, LD will handle IndyCar and BV will cover for him at F1 (though I expect BV would be obligated to do GrandAm or Barrett-Jackson if it conflicted).

I don't care about the suits. I don't understand why NBC Sports isn't passing along the whole HD feed they are getting from F1. In our channel line up, NBC Sports is supposedly a "HD" channel but the race coverage has black bars on the top, bottom, and sides. I contacted our cable provider about this and the customer service rep explained that they are piping out exactly what they are receiving from NBC Sports. What gives?

My NBC Sports HD channel is full screen and full HD.

Wasn't it nice to see no smug Vettel on the rostrum with his finger in the air. Great race with lot's going on and nobody quite sure how it would play out until the end. Felt sorry for Webber though. He comes across as a genuine nice guy. Shame his wheel didn't collect his team mates car. How would that have gone down at the next team meeting!
The atmosphere after the race couldn't have been any different than the last awkward silence following the race before.

^^^^^ x2

It was a nice race. Seems like there was a bit more drama with more guys actually having a chance at podium. The guys on the podium actually seemed happy. Well, as happy as Kimi can be:). Too bad for Webber, fuel problem in qual then the tire deal. Does a black cloud just hang over that guys head???? Ferrari looked good but they have to do better in their pit stops if they want to stay ahead of Red Bull. Gotta say, Red Bull is just fantastic in the pits. Reminds me of Audi at Le Mans, no one else seems to come close.

Don't want to jinx 'em, but am rooting for Fernando and/or Kimi.

he he he go FRED!

WoooooEEEEEE! Fernando and Kimi and Masa to boot! Glad F1 is back after 3 quiet weeks and love the 0730 live airing.:D

Hobbes and Matchett (and that other guy) are all actually *in* Monaco for coverage!

Speed/Fox never did that... Poor BV...

(Note, I'm doubting that actually being in Monaco will really make any difference in quality, but I still like seeing it)

They miss a lot compared to the BBC but are pretty entertaining.

Should be another interesting race. Seems like Mercedes will rule qualifying but until the Pirellis are changed Ferrari and Kimi look to be the biggest threats to win (hopefully).

Well, since there's no access to the beeb here, I guess I'll just have to suffer.

:^)

Actually, I suppose I could VPN in - does the BBC keep F1 events hanging around at all?

With the starting grid set things could get REALLY interesting. The first four spots look really "dog eat dog". I can see problems right at the start with these guys. Maybe Kimi and Fernando are in the right place after all. Have to wait and see.

Me too! Wonder if NBC will have the guys at any of the other races. Still think that NBC with their glitzy sets and making the guys wear suits is a bit too much but I like that they are actually at the race. Looks like a gorgeous day for the race. This is gonna be interesting. Go Fernando and Kimi!

Great to see! I didn't think Mercedes would be able to make their tires last. Guess that Pirelli test really helped.

This bodes well for the rest of the season with regards to Hamilton taking the fight to Vettel. But Nico's domination of him these last few races has been impressive. Nico's just too far down in the standings unfortunately.

But why did Hamilton give up second place with that pit stop? Surly the team were letting him know to get a move on? Great day for Nico and Mercedes but it could have been so much better with a 1 & 2. Last couple of laps from Kimi were outstanding as well.
Completely different race in Canada though so it will be interesting to see if Mercedes can take their qualifying pace with them on Sunday.
