I feel the same way. I'm waiting to see what the next iPhone offers. I've been contract free since October around the time when the 5 came out. I'm actually just ready to see a complete redesign of the phone. I personally feel its time for a new look from the rectangular design with the antenna bordering the entire phone. May not happen though..

Sorry to disappoint you but it'll be a while before triangular or circular phones are made by Apple.

More fragmentation is exactly what Apple don't want

Its that sort of thinking that meant after almost five years of iPhone ownership I just bought a Galaxy S3 to replace my iPhone 4. When the iPhone 3G arrived it was so far ahead of other offerings it was an instant buy. The premium cost was worth it to me. I skipped the 3GS. The 4S and 5 just didn't offer enough improvement and finally I got fed up waiting for Apple to meet my needs. :(

I hope Apple doesn't get rid of the physical home button in favour of a touch one - unless the touch one is recessed. You need to be able to find it easily in the dark.

The S3 is an awful awful phone. I had it for 2 months and went back to iPhone 4S. The battery is rubbish, the screen isn't as good quality as the iPhone - colours are too saturated - the user experience was just maddening.

The iPhone is so much better in almost every way.

This! Yes! I love the 16:9 screen at 4" on my new 5, but the galaxy S3... That screen is so much better simply because it is bigger. Why can't they do 4" and 4.7", each at 16:9 for two separate phones?

That would confuse Apple customers. Why would Apple want to be more like Samsung?

----------

I returned the iPad I bought on Black Friday for two reasons, one being the lack of multiuser security--don't want someone who picks it up to browse the Internet to also be able to see my personal stuff. The other reason is the lack of a proper file system.

Apple has determined that nobody needs access to the file system. Simply use iTunes to sync and everything just works.

And I'm sure Samsung or Microsoft or Google are the grand examples of philanthropy, community and family values.

C'mon. Apple is just like any huge megacorporation. All they care about is giving profits to Hedge Funds and other institutional investors.

Apple is not any worse than say, Monsanto.

I guess I'm in the minority of people who thinks Apple shouldn't be slaves to a 12 month release cycle. The iPhone 5 is amazing in terms of its hardware and it would be great if they just kept releasing new phones as and when they develop the technology for it, to keep everybody else on their toes.

The problem with releasing a new iPhone at this time, of course, will be 'what to call it' … the naming could get a little silly and confuse consumers.

Needless to say, I'll wait until 2014 to get my iPhone 8S ;)

They'll call it the 5S, just like the 4S. How is that confusing? If anything, it's chosen to NOT confuse the consumer. I'm not getting into more arguments that this forum has every year concerning iPhone names. It'll be called the iPhone 5S and people will live with that.

As are Google, Microsoft and Samsung.

And you didn't know neither of these existed before you bought it? If you did know, why did you buy it then?

Because iPhone 5S doesn't get the same number of search hits as iPhone 6. Some people are also hoping that it's not called 5S because it looks a little like 55 while others are hoping for a redesign that moves away from the iPhone 4 design (my hope). It would also be nice if it was less scratch-prone.

History points to a iPhone 5S before the 6. All those websites are just fooling themselves (or trolling for page hits)

no chance iOS 7 is gonna be drastic .. Ive just taken the job.. it will probably just gonna be a minor update to the OS..

It aint necessarily so...

If Sir Jony has been working on iOS7 since October(ish) when Forstall was shown the door, it could easily be ready for a June '13 launch and easily be radically different.

At his level and importance within the company, he probably works 12 to 18 hours a day, six days a week. I'm also sure when he's not at work, he'll be thinking about work!

A man of his calibre can get a lot done in this seemingly short time!

Hardly radical that Apple is working on a new version of something that is already out.

Yes - it was so awful slipping in a 32Gb micro SD card, having to learn widgets and having a screen large enough to use them. How will I manage?

Here's something you may want to use - IMO. It means "in my opinion". ;)

I would just like to see Some ****ING signs of life on my lock/home screen, some ****ing real-time ****, i don't care.

Here's what I want to see in iOS 7...

3. Vehicle mode - no texting if device is moving > 5 mph

Can i ask... how would you benefit from this one?
So you tell the phone to not let you text when it's moving faster then 5mph?
Sorry... am just not getting this at all. If it has to do with driving then it's simple.... just don't text while you driving.

The iPhone 5 screen is the perfect size. The S3 screen is too big for a phone. The phone also felt very cheap and nasty.

I will never ever buy another Samsung phone - EVER! I really cannot see how it's so successful.

Also, if I'm writing something it goes without saying its 'my opinion' unless I'm quoting someone else #

Built in phaser, to blow up any Samsung phone/table it sees :D

I'd use that phaser to put many S3's out of their misery. Very poor iPhone imitation.

Actually no. But if you are unable to differentiate between facts and opinion then I understand your difficulty in using a non-Apple phone.

Example: The Sun is the nearest star to the Earth. This is known as a fact and is not opinion. But I wrote it.

iOS 7

I would appreciate it if Apple would concentrate on making existing features better.

iMessages nearly never appears on my iPad or Mac,
the multitask bar needs to be rethought (there was an article about this where someone made it a lot better),
apps still download using 3G even though it shouldn't,
notifications center should be more customizable (eg. adding WiFi/Bluetooth toggles),
better way to send feedback to Apple regarding the Maps app,
someone mentioned Powernap which would be great as it's a pain to constantly update apps manually,
he also mentioned combining Newsstand and iBooks. Considering Newsstand cannot be deleted, I would welcome this.
I would actually prefer Apple to combine apps instead of separating them all out. I didn't see anything wrong with the iPod app. And couldn't the Compass app be combined with the Maps app?
I still don't see the point of Game Centre.

More to the point.... iOS 7 showing in the web logs of Macrumors! I guarantee this is Tim sat in his office checking that the double down on secrecy is going to plan.

did you order it online without trying it out? seems to me these are things you should have noticed before purchasing
