I know this a very old thread but I just had my screen replaced because of staingate. My computer is a mid 2014 13" rMBP.
The replacement was done in an authorized service provider (no Apple Stores in my country), when they returned it to me the plastic that protects the display was still on and I asked to take it home that way.
Anyway, I think this finally solves the mystery (is it?) about the A018 being a Samsung or LG.
It's LG. And it's a beautiful display. I previously had a A020 and I thought it was also but after a few days of using this A018 I really can tell there's a difference. It's not as warm and it appears to have a higher contrast, colors also look more vivid.
I didn't had any IR in almost two years with the A020 and I hope I don't with this, I still have apple care for another 15 months so I guess I don't have to worry to much about it.
