I still can't believe the Islanders got INTO the playoffs before the Rangers (I believe). It's the damn Islanders! I have had a long running joke with my friends that they're my favorite team (even though we're mostly Boston guys). Actually it's been long running enough where I do follow them a bit.

perfect evidence that hockey players are the best athletes in the world.

Absolute, incontrovertible, conclusive, categorical, if-you-argue-you-are-a-jerk proof that hockey players are the best athletes in the world.

No question...

Forget all those decathletes, ironman triathlon athletes, and all those othe wussy major sport athletes...this evidence proves it.

And they're good looking, too.

the nhl gamecenter app does do notifications quite well. There is also an app called "thescore". Both are quite good.

What a game last night. If that kind of drama can't get you excited, nothing will. David Krejci is a playoff god.

Well it was a long shot, but my Wild are out. Didn't expect them to win but it would have been great if they did!

What a crazy finish to the Wings/Ducks game! Looks like tomorrow night will be fun with a couple of game 7's!

Glad Zetterberg lead the way for the Wings down the stretch and in this series to will the Wings into the playoffs and past the Ducks.

Looking DeKeyser, a key pick up and top 4 D, really killed any viable (or far fetched) deep Wings run, but it should be fun playing the Blackhawks one last time as divisional rivals.

Huge win by Toronto to force 7. Rask is getting no support from his offensively impotent team. I have a love/hate thing for Boston, and in this series it's a hate, so go Leafs go. Knock those weasels out.

Also really disappointed the Islanders didn't force 7. Stupid play by Nielsen to deflect the puck right in front of Nabokov to cause the tying goal in Game 6. Oh well - it was a fun run. Pitt better adjust quick or Ottawa will take care of them.

Bring it on Detroit, should be a great series. How fitting that Chicago and Detroit will meet again before Detroit moves to the Eastern Conferance. Hawks in 6!

typical Bruins this year. half the games they just decide not to show up offensively. 1 goal in the last 2 games? pathetic showing. they should be embarrassed.

Hope they win tonight but I can't say I'm very confident after the way they came out in Game 5 at home...:mad:

8 teams left, of course i believe my kings can do it again. anyone wanna rank the 8?

1. kings
2. pens
3. hawks
4. wings
5. sharks
6. sens
7. rangers
8. boston

Nobody has any thoughts on the epic comeback by the Bruins the other night? First team ever to come back from 3 goals down in the 3rd period of game 7. Yeah, they should have closed out Toronto sooner, but the B's blueline being devastated by injuries has hurt. Bruins were without over 170 games of playoff experience in game 7 with Seidenberg, Ference, and Redden all out.

No way Boston is below Detroit, San Jose, or Ottawa. Though if Seidenberg is out long-term we are in big trouble.

Chicago and Pittsburgh are better than the Kings too.

Looking forward to this Rangers series, they're always a good matchup for the Bruins. Playing Toronto and then NY is probably the best case scenario for Boston to break out of the lazyness that plagued them through the last month of the regular season. I'm expecting this series to go 7.

If you want my 8, here it is:
Chicago, Pittsburgh, LA, Boston, Rangers, Detroit, San Jose, Ottawa.

For the series' coming up, I'm taking Chicago over Detroit, LA over San Jose, Boston over NY, and Pittsburgh over Ottawa. Conference finals Chicago vs LA and Boston vs Pittsburgh would be pretty epic.

how do you figure?!

first off, the east can't compete with the west.

second, how is chicago better than the kings? the reward is the stanley cup, and as far as i'm concerned the kings are the best since they won it last year, and till someone takes it from them, they are #1

big deal that chicago came out 1st in the reg season. kings were 8th seed last year.

and for boston, they barely beat toronto. meh.

I think your bias to the Kings can distort the truth. Just because they won last year doesn't make them the team to beat. The Kings are good but nowhere close to being number one. They lack depth. The Blackhawks are easily number 1 at this point. The playoffs can swing either way though some good match ups.

My rankings:
1. Chicago
2. Pittsburgh
3. New York
4. Boston
5. LA
6. Detroit
7. Ottawa
8. San Jose

you guys are going way to much off the regular season. we shall see!

The regular season has much more bearing on what's going to happen than last year. You don't have the same team as last year. There's a reason it's been 15 years since a team has won it two years in a row.

Chicago, Pittsburgh, Boston, and LA all have cores with Stanley Cup experience from the last 5 years, so they're all pretty even in that regard. So, until they prove otherwise, the teams that played the best all season and have the most depth are probably the front runners. Right now, that's Chicago in the west and Pittsburgh in the east. Obviously though, anything can happen. That's why they play the game.
