At whining, yeah.

At scoring in the playoffs? Look who's leading the entire league in playoff scoring... I'll give you a hint, he doesn't wear #87 :p

As opposed to the Kings bandwagon that magically appeared this time last year? :D :p

not really...kings didnt get much of bandwagon, shoot...the media still doesn't recognize them as champs really. east coast bias crap.

What "media" do you watch? NBCSN and TSN covered the East and West conferences pretty equally this year.

Whining about "east coast bias" just sounds petty. Yeah, you won last year, but this is a new season. Time to move on. The 4 teams still in it now are the past 4 champions and everybody knows it, so do we really need to mention it every 5 minutes? All that matters now is this season and the games that are being played now. History is just that... history.

Also, when a team wins it all, they're going to pick up some bandwagoners. People jumped on the Pitt bandwagon in '09, the Chicago bandwagon in '10, the Bruins bandwagon in '11, and the Kings bandwagon last year. It happens every year in every sport. That said, they can be anywhere. You could have hardcore Kings fans in Fargo, North Dakota who are better fans than some bandwagoners who live in Los Angeles. I know for a fact that there are many huge, hardcore Bruins fans up in Eastern Canada (PEI, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland) and in the Ontario area, and many of them are more dedicated fans than some of the ones here in MA that just came out of the woodwork in the past few weeks. The Bruins have always been really popular around here, and but this time of year even the people who aren't sports fans jump on the bandwagon and start watching the games. You can tell who they are cause they don't know what the **** they are talking about when they try to talk about the game. ;) :D

Considering not everyone gets TSN (or CBC like I do), I'll ignore that.

NBCSN appearances: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...orts-2013-nhl-tv-schedule-173825259--nhl.html

44 for the West, 22 of which are teams in the Central - Detroit had the most (7)
74 for the East, multiple teams with 10+ appearances: Boston (10), NYR (10), Philadelphia (13), Pitt (11). Also NJ with 9.

---

There is always an argument for an East v. West bias, incredibly more so now with the truncated season and disproportionate coverage.

I don't get TSN either but I wish I did.

I didn't realize how disproportionate the numbers actually were as far as games televised. Tt seemed from my memory that it would have been closer, I remembered watching a lot of Blackhawks, Wild, Kings, Blues games during this past season. My memory probably is off though because I tend to actually watch those games, and when a team like Jersey is playing, I don't even bother cause I can't stand them.

From those numbers we can see NBC has a clear infatuation with their Atlantic division teams though. NBC did do a fairly good job of showing highlights of all the teams though, even though they didn't televise the west as much. Can't say I blame them though, they're just following the money.

One more thing... since this whole discussion started with Rick griping about his Kings, I find it kind of funny that this line was in your same article:

Winner: Los Angeles Kings. The Kings triple their appearances on NBC after winning the Cup last season, including an “opening day” afternoon affair against Chicago that much of the country will see.

Chicago takes a 2-0 lead. Quick looked off last night but I expect him to bounce back the next game. A guy can only carry a team so long before breaking down. I still expect a long series though against the Kings though.

Pittsburgh is looking like complete doo-doo the first two games. They might have some great players on the front lines but looks like they fell short in the goaltending department.

It was ugly, and I think you are right. Didn't we see this with the ducks the year they lost it. Really good goalie, and lack luster offense.

Was that the year when they played NJ and even though they lost Giugere still won the Conn Smyth? He was phenomenal that series and deserved it even with no offense.

The Kings never looked like they did in game 2 at all in the playoffs last year. I really think they need to win the next 3 to carry the momentum back home for game 6 and win that. No way they can win game 7 in Chicago. I say this as a Kings fan.

Living in Pittsburgh this is all I've heard about. I'm a huge Pens fan, so I'm not going to sit here and say its over, but my god the team fell apart quickly. I don't think Fleury and Vokoun are the only ones to blame. The entire team sucked last night (and Saturday), and defense was horrible. Like I said, I'm not going to sit here and say it's over, but history is working against them.

I thoroughly enjoyed that game last night :D

At least Sid & his boys did less whining last night and basically shut up and took their beating like men. Gotta give them credit for that and not throwing a hissy fit like he did in game 1.

Can't wait for the game tomorrow night. The Garden is going to be absolutely rockin when the B's come on to the ice.

Wow.....

Bergeron does it again. Game winner at 15:19 of 2OT. what a game.

Looks like the Hawks solved the Kings dominance at Staples Center and take a 3-1 lead in the series. Game 5 tomorrow at the UC!

the best home ice in hockey.

Boston disagrees with you. :p:D

Huge game tonight for the Bruins.. I'd love to see a handshake line.

The Boston vs Chicago finals matchup is looking more like a possibility with each day... would absolutely love to see an Original 6 final.

Fair point. I was only basing that on attendance.

;)

Haha, I still don't understand how you can have more than 100% attendance.. but the Bruins had over 100% according to those charts this year too.

And they're GOING TO THE STANLEY CUP FINALS for the 2nd time in 3 years with a SWEEP of the PITTSBURGH PENGUINS!!!! woooo
