U series processors do not have Iris Pro, only H series.

Would the next iteration of the rMBP have increased battery life with the new generation of processors?

The next Haswell spec bump (if there is one) won't effect the battery life very much, but the Broadwell chips should do. Apple could reduce the battery size in the Broadwell rMBPs to give the same battery life (~9 hours) but in a lighter laptop.

Very true. I had just assumed they'd aim for longer battery life, but as you correctly point out they may use the lower power consumption of Broadwell to other advantages. This makes my personal case of considering purchasing the current rMBP feel even better. ;)
