Hi all,
I've gotten an old 2015 15" macbook pro out and tried using it but when I try to charge it for a few hours, it doesn't seem to hold any charge and the computer won't start at all. It only shows a red battery icon with a lightning symbol when plugged in and my charger has an amber light the whole time. I'm using an 85W magsafe 1 charger connected through a magsafe 1 to 2 adapter (all genuine) and I can't get it to actually boot, even with the battery disconnected!
Anyone got any tips or has had a similar issue before? I'd appreciate any help since searching isn't really getting anywhere...

When power draw is greater than what the outlet can provide, the system tries to pull in from the battery. If the battery is dead and no power can be provided, no boot-up.
