We're already on to '15-'16...

Every WR out there is waiting to see what type of deal Dez is going to get. The only notable WR on that list that's really going to be eyeing it is Demaryius - I don't expect him to leave Denver and if the Broncos want Manning for at least another year and have their next QB to have something to work with, they sign Demaryius and not tag him because that's going to be around a $12 million off the books.

Yes. Super Bowl is over and last year's started February 8th, so. Also, the last thread was all about the Yankees.

I'm thinking he gets the franchise tag, honestly. I would rather wrap him up, but I'm not convinced Jerry thinks the Cowboys have a large championship window.

I would lock up the best, most marketable player on the team, but what do I know.

With approximately only 7.4 million in cap space, it might come down to DeMarco or Dez, if Jerry finds a way to keep both I'll be very surprised. RB's are a lot easier to replace than WR's so there is a good chance DeMarco won't be a Cowboy next year.

Tony Romo and Tyron Smith deserve the money they're making so I doubt anything is going to be adjusted there. My concerns would be with the other higher paid players: Brandon Carr ($12.7 million), Henry Melton ($9.2 million) and Morris Claiborne ($5.1 million). I know Brandon Carr is the star in that otherwise weak CB position but $12.7 million? Henry Melton with his injuries is also a questionable at $9.2 million.

Thoughts?

I think it goes without saying Dez Bryant is a Cowboy next season, preferably with a long term deal.

The precedent for Murray is not a good one. Statistically, he will likely never have a season as good as this one.

We lose Carr if he won't take a paycut. Lose Melton also. Sign Free at a team friendly rate. Sign McClain team friendly. Sign Beasley (!), Moore, Weems, Spillman, and Leary.

Look at free agency to fill any remaining gaps and draft best available.

Also, regardless of what happens, Romo gets paid even if the Cowboys restructure. The issue is it makes Romo's contract hurt longer.

We're about to go back looking for Quarterbacks. Not this offseason, but certainly next...

Woodson wants the Raiders to pursue Suh. ****.

i hate that guy.

I don't like him either, he's a dirty player pure and simple. Still, the Raiders are one team that could go all in on him and see a big improvement on the team.

I don't think Detroit as the cap space and/or cash to keep him.

Isn't he already getting almost $13 million? Gerald McCoy is currently the highest paid DT at $13.5 million so if Suh wants more than what he's currently getting, don't think Detroit can afford to keep him - they have about $15 million left in cap space.

It's funny. Most teams cannot afford a $15 million per season DT. We shall see. I hope Jerry Jones stays the hell away from this. Cap issues are no fun.

and that is our "rep" ...

Don't I know it. Rams are already over the cap and have a lot to do. The situation regarding Bradford is such a clusterf--k. Obviously his contract is going to be reworked. As much I like Bradford and his potential (still riding that bandwagon until he plays a full season), Rams can't pay him his $16 million contract. Jake Long is either cut or he reworks his contract as well because he's currently not worth the $10 million especially after his injuries.

The rumors will fly over Suh and what team he wants. Here is another one that reports he wants to go to Seattle. But, I don't think they have enough money for him.

If they can make that happen I will be shocked. Within a couple of years, a signing like that will dismantle the team they built.

At the same time, let's be honest. Super Bowls are won, by and large, by drafting.

ok, good idea to keep the old thread open while people are still arguing about ... well just good idea to keep the old thread open.

@AustinIllini - and yes, the raider management is bad.

My motivation was to keep "deflategate" in the past. I would much rather talk about what is coming up in this offseason and regular season

What happens if they place the franchise tag on Suh, they'll get another year on him - why would Detroit NOT use that tag?

It is really expensive to franchise someone who is already a top 5 earner at his position. They would have to pay him almost $16 million to franchise him.

Generally speaking, the player doesn't like getting franchised and it is a one year thing. If they thought they could sign him to an agreeable multi year deal, I'm sure they would do that, but it's hard to pay that much for a player for one year who is not likely in your franchise's future.
