I think the nostalgia factor is nice, but when it comes to Revis it's all about the money. I don't mean he's greedy, he's just super smart business wise. I heard one commentator describe him as a "Hall of Famer on the field and off the field when it comes to contract negotiations".

At this point, why not? He has his Super Bowl ring. If he can continue his play (don't see why not), he's just building up his HoF resume.

Would he have a better chance building up these numbers as a Patriot or Jet? He wanted to build up his wallet.

We'll take it!!!

Anything is better than the Geno Smith / Ryan Fitzpatrick combo we are working with right now lol.

Hear, hear! Then again, the Jets drafted 4 QBs under Rex's watch and he developed none. Excited to see what the new regime can do with Geno, especially with a real receiving corp.

At this point, it would seem Demarco Murray is going to have a tough time outearning Jermey Parnell......

I really like the new (old) Cowboys' front office. They are making smart decisions even if it's hard. They don't owe anyone, anything and Demarco is not exception.

As much as I like him and would love to see him in a Cowboys uniform next year, I don't see why we should pay him upwards of $8 million / year if we can draft a guy like Melvin Gordon.

It's just the way of the NFL - RBs don't have long lifespans and aren't valued. And all the statistics point to Murray declining and likely hitting a HUGE wall in the next year of so.

I saw a Dallas journalist post his ideal contract for Murray and I'm on board - 3 years / $18 million, $8 million guaranteed, $4 million signing bonus, base salaries of $2 million / $4 million / $4 million, roster bonuses of $2 million in '16/'17.

But according to other sources, it doesn't seem like the Cowboys have offered anything higher than $5 million / year.

Also, mark my words - Dez Bryant will have a long term deal done well before the season begins.

I agree with everything posted here. The Cowboys have something Murray can really utilize, a championship caliber O-line. A bad team like Jax could offer him big money, but good luck playing there, honestly.

Dez will absolutely be a Cowboy for the rest of his career.

I don't think it matters. Revis isn't a team scheme-type player, they put him out there on one side and let him do his thing so wherever he plays, teams are going to throw to Revis or they're not so why not go to where the money is?

If the Patriots didn't win the Super Bowl, this might be a different conversation. I don't know about you, but if I finally achieved the goal of winning a Super Bowl and there was money waiting elsewhere, I'm taking the money.

There's nothing wrong with that when teams sign long team contracts that only last two years. He's entitled to get the most for his services.

Murray set to join the Eagles. I had a gut feeling Murray was going to leave ever since Adrian Peterson said he wanted to play for Jerry Jones/Cowboys. Coming off his off-field issues, I'm guessing Peterson will cost the same, if not less than Murray's contract with the Eagles and arguably come be a winner in this if they feel like Peterson is the better back.

DeMarco Murray to sign with Eagles.

ESPN.com said:
"It was never about the money in any situation," Murray texted ESPN.com's Todd Archer. "If it was the money, I could've taken that a long time ago on a very high deal. It's about winning a Super Bowl and being fair."

Murray is expected to sign a five-year, $42 million deal, including $21 million guaranteed, with the Eagles, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen.

Of the $21 million, $18 million is guaranteed for skill and injury.

Jets signed Cromartie, its 2010 all over again.... Bring in Damien Woody and Braylon Edwards lol.

Good. Eagles WAY overpaid.

But but but, Kelly has been unloading the talent to manage the cap  :p

I think Murray is a definite upgrade over their first pick - Gore. Still they created a mess that could have been avoided.

The Eagles are either going to be really good, or really bad. With the addition of Murray, the Eagles have surrounded Sam Bradford with something he never had or even close to having, a solid offensive line and a running back. The receivers are a major weak spot but if Murray is going to be the focal point in the offense, Bradford can sit back and effectively dip/dunk it off and occasionally the deep ball like he did in St. Louis but with a much better supporting cast.

I don't understand how Murray at 5 years / $42 million is worth it more than simply paying McCoy a similar amount.....

McCoy is proven more, a bit younger...

I guess you could look at it that they flipped McCoy for Alonso and Murray....

Still, I'm so glad the Cowboys didn't try to outbid the Eagles. Philly will regret this deal about halfway through next season. Mark my words, he'll never break 1300 yards again in his career....probably going to be in the 1100-1200 range. Won't came anywhere NEAR 1800 again. It just doesn't happen with guys coming off 400+ touches seasons.

I'd be surprised if AP is the answer for us.

More likely than not it's one of:

-Melvin Gordon
-Todd Gurley
-Jay Ajayi
-Duke Johnson
-Other RB

Either in the first round or rounds 2/3 of the draft. One of those guys behind our line with the offensive weapons we have will be able to gain 1300+ yards. Hell, look at what Alfred Morris (7th rounder) did on a poor Redskins team his rookie season (1600+ yards).

I'm not worried in the slightest about RB and would rather spend that $9 million/year on a couple of defensive players.

AP only makes sense if the price tag is less than Murray's, if the same or higher, they would have just re-signed Murray. I'm not sure of what Dallas' cap is but if it's low, the draft would be the only way to get a RB. They also have to lock up Dez Bryant as well.

Darren McFadden to the Cowboys. Should be a good replacement to Murray. McFadden is still a good back, just had the misfortune of playing on the Raiders. He should be effective if all the talk about the Cowboys line being great are true.

Rams sign Fairely. The Rams defensive line was already disgusting, if Fairley plays well and not the way he was playing in Detroit, Rams defense could wreck havoc every week.

RunDMC will be the backup to whomever they draft in the 1st or 2nd round.

I think RunDMC can get at leat 50% of the production Murray will get with the Eagles this season...

I'd be surprised if Murray topped 1500 total yards, but I think RunDMC can get 750. Good pass catcher out of the backfield.

They really should parlay one of those studs into OL help....if they had ANY type of offense they'd be a force.

Just based on history, I'm not expecting the Rams to draft any offense that's going to provide an immediate impact. My hope is that the defense plays lights out and allows the offense to just manage the clock with short run plays and dunks, screens and drags with Austin, Bailey, Givens. There's just too many holes to fill on offense and I don't think they're going to get everything in place this year. To get to a level where the Rams would be a force, they would need to have a draft like they did in the late 90's/early 2000's and drafts like those don't happen too often.

Provided he stays healthy.
