Why would size or population matter? The team isn't your congressman representing you and your interests on Capitol Hill.

I just think it's stupid that as per usual the big market areas have 2-3 teams (if not more) whereas lots of states have zero teams. Why does California need FIVE baseball teams? Why does NY (and NYC at that) need 2 basketball teams?

It just seems pointless IMO. It's like a continuing perennial BJ to the big market areas.

Yes, the North Dakota/Montana market is so badly underserved by professional sports.

so, why does california need 5 baseball teams again? so that anyone in california has a 5/30 chance of feeling warm and fuzzy every postseason while most other markets have a 1/30 chance or 0/30 chance? it would benefit the league to limit states to one team, as theyd then have more fans in states who otherwise have no teams and thus zero interest. five ball clubs in california generates less fervor and merchandise sales than five teams in five different states would.

there are what, 30-32 teams in most sports? doesnt mean montana/ND need teams, it just means the usual blowhard places dont need multiples while other places have none at all. id be much less interested if my state had multiple teams, as thered be no reason to really root for one team

sorry if youre offended i think its stupid that the usual suspect places have a ton of teams, its pretty pointless IMO. why not just move all 30 ball teams to california, i mean really, why not? 17% of the mlb teams are already there

…Also remember the Cardinals were originally from St Lou before relocating to AZ.
Well, yes, but moving to Phoenix was a public service. We kind of got tired of "the St. Louis baseball Cardinals" and "the St. Louis football Cardinals". They should have just stayed in Chicago and let St. Louis take da Bears, to avoid confusion.

Halas would never have left Illinois. The Bears will find a wealthy suburb should they feel the need to move out of their horrible stadium.

The circus is back in New England.
New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones had a bad reaction to a substance "that is not illegal" on Sunday, which led to him being admitted to a local hospital, sources tell ESPN.

On Wednesday, citing a source familiar with the situation, the Boston Globe also reported that Jones did not overdose on a drug such as cocaine or heroin. The Globe reported that it was synthetic marijuana, which is not illegal in the state. Jones lives near the Foxborough police station, and he walked there to seek help after the bad reaction.

A source told the Globe that Jones was present at the Patriots facility the next morning at 6:30 a.m. lifting weights.
Chandler Jones' situation is 'none of our business,' says Patriots teammate Matthew Slater.

On Tuesday, after the Boston Herald first reported about Jones, the Patriots released the following statement: "Chandler Jones was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and released that day. He reported to work on time Monday morning and has participated in all meetings and practices since then."

Jones' teammates declined to comment about his situation except to say they are concerned about his health.
Not too mention Bellicheck's black eye. :D

Some interesting rumors about the Raiders. It won't happen, but that's how a team would have to build a stadium like that. Austin and San Antonio are both large metro areas in close proximity..
I hope not.

I disagree. Look at Florida and California for example. If you limited the NFL to Miami, Jacksonville is 350 miles away. You are effectively denying them a chance to see games live. Same thing for San Fransico and Los Angeles.

Wow, the 9ers hired Chip Kelly.

I didn't see that one coming. Hopefully he'll take what learned from the Eagles and maybe have a better experience with SF.

Definitely low risk, high reward here. First, he gets Kaepernick to run his offense. He never had a QB to do that in Foles and Bradford. Second, there's no one to trade away (heyoooooooo! :D) so he can't ruin the team more than it is.

Fresh start for all parties.

Agreed. A win for the team and for Kelly.

Don't see how this matters, there are still going to be the same number of stadiums nationwide, regardless of where they are located. By having a stadium in Jacksonville, you're just denying that many more people in a state with no team and no stadium from seeing games live. Same thing.

And not only would those people in Jacksonville still have a team to cheer for, but also now people from another state who previously had no team would have a team to cheer for as well now.

Anyway a classroom of first graders made posters for Blair Walsh to support him after he botched that Vikings game, and he went to the classroom to say thank you and sign autographs and take photos with the kids.

Grade A class act all around, good on him.

Well he's just head coach so he can't just get rid of any players like he did in Philly.

I hope things work out down there.

I saw that. A great story all around.

Wow is right, didn't see that one coming at all!
One thing that he seemed to be adamant on is that he does not want player control. I think he truely saw himself over his head on that one.

The real question now comes, how will he relate with the players, i.e., with sleep monitoring, and individualized protein shakes or as a human being.

My predictions:

Chiefs over the Patriots 24-17
Broncos over the Steelers 28-10
Panthers over the Seahawks 21-17
Cardinals over the Packers 28-24

Pats 21 KC 17?

I really don't know.. Just wanted to put a score up that had the Pats winning.
